The question presented:

A) Twitter's popularity: Further manifestation of many people's self-obsession and errant opinion others actually care to know what they are thinking or doing at any given moment.

B) Twitter's popularity: Harmless and fun way to keep up with one's homeys.

C) Twitter's popularity: Marketing genius in the finest tradition of the guy who got rich foisting "pet rocks" on people with more money than sense back in the seventies and once again proving P.T. Barnum's immortal belief "there's a sucker born every minute."

D) Twitter's popularity: His rich voice and song stylings touched people in a way no other male country singer had before he burst onto the Nashville scene.

the problem is that Twitter doesn't really make any money...

they will probably find a way to make it suck when they try to make money on it

Message boards are going to way of the dodo once people discover chat rooms.

people will always prefer CD's over mp3 because they like to buy and possess actual objects.

edit: related sidenote from the always hilarious RIAA, can't forget this gem from the mid 80's: "LP's are easy to damage or scratch, CD's are indestructible".

I don't really give a s*** what you're doing all of the time or my favorite celebrity for that matter.

"I'm going to the store now." "Will post pics from my phone when I get there."

yipeeeee!

It can be fun. The marketing IDs I follow are ones I WANT to follow, such as Jon Favreau (currently directing Iron Man II) and Cheever's/ Red Prime / Iron Starr. Their updates are relevant to my interests. I don't update too much myself, but I have the app on my phone now, so maybe I will. I use it more to follow others than for others to follow me.
