I like Hartley but Duncan was much more consistent in my eyes. Either or would be better than what we got now ;)

i've never been a fan of the 2,1,3,42,-2,3,1,2,3,1,0,0,0,80 - 150 yard runner. give me someone who can give me 4-5 a pop steadily in college and i'll show you a prolific offense.

so for this offense, i went with the elusive guys who can get me 4-5 running and 9-10 receiving.

I know AD had a lot of lost yardage early in his career trying to make something out of nothing, but I don't remember a bunch of -2 type runs later. What I remember was that he usually hit the hole so hard if he was tackled it was for a 4 yard gain. I realize I'm likely misremembering, I would think most his yardage came in 5-10 yard chunks until he broke a couple big ones off late in the game when the D was tired.

More "no gains" than I would have thought. I'd still take the solid home run threat combined with his standard production over CB. Though, with a player like AD, you HAVE to use him, and use others less. So, the argument of a better overall team is still valid.

its an all time offense, so i'm all about the combo that provides me the most points. one of the more interesting stats about peterson was the lack of 1st downs that he generated in a game. that is why, in the game above, we were only up 27-9 going into that last TD in the 4th quarter. for me, its as simple as this

you typically have X drives a game.

peterson would burst you 14 points on 2 drives, but stall out 3-5 or so with 3 and outs because of negative/zero yard gains. brown is a guy who won't burst you points, but he'll keep 5-7 drives a live with 1st downs.

I think that's what makes the combination of DM and CB so potent. When healthy, Demarco is a home run threat. He seems to the be lightning to CB's thunder. So, it's nice to have Brown come in, get 4 yards nearly every time, and be able to change the pace with DM and have the threat to go the distance any time he touches the ball. I still maintain he has this threat, even though he didn't do it much last year.

i doubt that murray ever regains that burst from his freshman year. just like the guy he resembles the most, tatum bell, never recaptured his. for whatever reason, those guys lose a lot of top end speed when they start gaining weight to take the pounding. his knee injury (and no doubt his current hammy injury) didn't help matters either.

A lot of what he lacked last year was the mental part of it. Once he started to regain that, his running improved. Now, having gone through two separate injuries there only two likely options, in my mind, are: 1) he makes a quick full recovery knowing he's capable of it or 2) he never fully recovers because now he's worried he'll get hurt every time he touches the ball. If the later is the case, I don't see him having a very lasting career because he'll always be hesitant and afraid to cut back. So, I'm going to be the optimist and say he's going to make a quick and full recovery, have a huge year, go pro, and make the hall of fame.

Well, actually, I just want him to stay healthy. He'll get much of it back in time.
