I know that in the Bob Stoops era we've had some good duels in the RRS. I got to thinking that since 2000 we have had Josh Heupel vs Major Applewhite (1999,2000) Jason White vs. Chrissy Simms & Vince Young(2003,2004) and Sam Bradford vs. Colt McCoy (2007,2008). I know there are some of you who have greater knowledge of some of the duels of yesteryear, so enlighten me.

I also came up w/Rodney Peete vs Troy Aikman and Tommy Maddox vs Todd Marinovich who combined for 624 yards in 1990.

That would be a great duel between so-so quarterbacks.

These two were great in college, and put on a hell of a show in the 2000 Sugar Bowl: Chris Weinke and Michael Vick.

Oh, sorry, thought we were going with just OU-Texas history.

Flutie/Kosar and Reich/Kosar in 1984

Can't remember who the BYU QB was in 1992, but their game vs. SDSU was pretty amazing. Behind Dan McGwire (Mark's 6'8" "little" brother) SDSU led 42-0 at the half. The game ended in a 42-42 tie.

1983- Turner Gill vs. Bernie

1993- It was a bit of a defensive battle to say the least, but Charlie Ward vs. Tommie Frazier

2005- VY vs. Leinart

Were these really considered "duels"? It might be semantics, but I thought these were "*** whoopins". Duel would imply some sort of equal exchange that didn't really happen during these games.

I know it wasn't an actual game, but it was fun watching Bradford, Halzle and Nichol duel for the starting job a few years ago. I know that Bradford's now King Heisman and all, but Halzle and Nichol put up a fight too.

It has to be the QBs from one of the greatest games ever played in College Football, the '71 OU/Nebraska game. Jack Mildren and Jerry Tagge. It was a real epic struggle, the closest thing today was the ut/usc rose bowl.
