View Full Version : What are good things?

Namely things that are purchased..

Seems to me that things just are not very good quality as in days past. Buy a simple CD player...junk. Buy a TV.... junk (no way in hell will it last 25 years like that old RCA console in your garage).

List those things that you have purchased, time-tested, that you feel are good quality. Doesn't have to be expensive or anything. Perhaps some tools - a TV - A microwave.. who knows. What things have got your attention simply by lasting and being reliable?

1. Toilet. Things must be 35 years old, cleans up very well, and works outstanding.

2. Truck. Ford, nuff said.

3. Craftsman cordless drill (18V). Used to hell, scratched, dropped, left out in the rain.. works like brand new.

4. Wife's old bag-***. ..wait didnt buy that.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you... and to hear the lamentation of their women!

I don't know what brand it is, but my Bed frame was originally purchased by my Great-Grandparents shortly after WWI. It has been used continually since then and it is still in great shape.

for a serious answer... i don't think you can beat a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife

http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Pages/Product.aspx?category=everyday&product=53501&

i've carried one model or another every day almost continuously since i was like 12(more than 20 years, damn i'm old)

i've only had to replace them when i lost them. if it breaks from normal use, they will fix/replace it.

and i'll go ahead and beat Homey to the Colt .45 ;) (or 1911)

Surefire flashlights are pretty nifty as well, especially the new LED versions

Oh this was supposed to be serious. Sorry. :D

If your going to talk knives...I bought two of these at a Tulsa gun show. I have used and abused the one I carry so badly...however...when the safety latch failed...I was able to take it apart and clean out the locking area and put the knife back into service. That was four months ago. They used good steel in these and are easy to sharpen too. I paid $40 for each of them and I'll be looking for a new one at the next gun show. Good value for a knife that I use a lot.

my dad bought a remington 870 when he was 14 to pheasant hunt in nebraska. 42 years later its killed thousands of birds, on 3 different continents through rain, snow, sleet, and dirt storms. its been dropped into lakes, and coated in mud. still shoots like new.
