Does anybody know when Bud Wilkinson won his first national championship? It actually isn't a difficult question.

Wilkinson helped lead the Minnesota Golden Gophers to three consecutive national championships from 1934-36 when he was in college.

as a head coach, he won at least a selector or two for the 1949 season...if we use the Bama selector system.

No it's not! SURELY there's someway we can keep this thread going by declaring that a WRONG answer... somehow...

EDIT: WAIT a sec... Wilkinson did not legally change his name to "Bud" until 1964! Haha! 1934 is the WRONG ANSWER! Try again, everyone :D

So what you're saying, badj, is that Bud NEVER won a national championship? :mad: :D BLASPHEMER!!!!! :mad: :D

Actually, that's correct. Bud, Barry, and Bob have never won anything...well, except conference titles. The AP and UPI/CNN/USAToday/ESPN/AARP/NAACP may have "proclaimed" them National Champs, but it's never REALLY been settled on the field.

Actually I did, though it was on NCAA '08, it was a tough season all the way...
