sort of a joke e-mail, but what if:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Give each of them a $2 million severance package with the following stipulations:

1. They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. Ok, maybe not fixed cause who knows what skills sets would be needed for fill those jobs.

2. They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. This would help provide a temporary boost for the auto industry.

3. They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. 'd amend it to either buy a house, pay off your mortgage, or buy a house for a relative or pay off their mortgage if you already have yours paid for.

What would the repercussions REALLY be if they offered that up?

and an 80million dollar experiment is still cheaper than the bailout plan

You are a mathematical genius.

I think that would cost a little more than 80 million. 80 trillion?

Or, we could stick to what the current administration is doing now.

Not really, they'll just print more money anyway.

Let's put it in perspective. 80M is about .0001 of the porkulus. 80T is a little more than 5x the size of the US economy.

WTF, guys? You trash a well-meaning idea with super good intentions just because it will cost 80 Trillion dollars?

It's real simple to make 80 Trillion dollars: We get the Fed to print money and use that money to buy bonds from the Treasury debt. When we have to pay ourselves back, we just do it all over again! My God! They ought to make me Secretary. I'm a genius!

If by "over 50" you mean "50 and over," I'm all over this.

If they'd just give all that cash to me I promise to spend it on American goods.

How 'bout we give 4Life $1 each to shut up and sit quietly?

Note to self....

Never worry about betting to much when playing 4Life in golf. Eventually you might get lucky and have one heck of a payday. :D

It's actually 80 million million.

2,000,000 x 40,000,000 = 80,000,000,000,000.

Which is not 80 trillion, but 80 quadrillion. Which is over 114 times what the bailout is costing us.

PLUS if any of those 50+ geezers in the work force are in New York City or LA, you can't even buy a house for 2 million. ;)

To be fair to OU4LIFE, this is far from the dumbest e-mail posted on this forum. Like it's not even in the top 10.
