I went to the one in Altus when I was a kid and it was friggin' awesome!

There were 3 30x30 chickenwire pens and each was at least 3 feet deep in the evil looking fuggers! Other than that it's like a fair or carnival with a focus on fried rattlesnake.

Okeene used to be one of the biggest festivals.

Maybe you mean Mangum? I lived in Altus and went to the Mangum event. They'd regularly catch 500-600 rattlers. Get your picture holding one around your neck with it's mouth sewed shut.

Be sure to wear your PETA shirt when you go just to make things interesting.

Yep, definitely Mangum. My family is from that neck of the woods and we went there a few times when I was a kid.

As a bonus some of the best burgers on the planet are in that little ol' town. I believe it's called The Hamburger Inn and it's located across the street (east) from the town square. If you're into onion fried burgers then you'll be in heaven. Last time I was there was a couple of years ago and they were truly awesome.

The goobers at the Waynoka hunt burned a bunch of trucks and campers down last year. There was about a 50 mph wind blowing and some numbnuts decides to light a fire. A buddy of mine barely got his truck and camper out of there before the fire hit.

The one in Waynoka is a hunt, not a "festival." At least not when I've gone. Only real semi-crosseyed snake lovers do the Waynoka thing. The Mangum deal is for city folk and christians and the like.

Yep, this one is huge.

Waynoka has turned into a big biker rally thing as well. Seems like something big(bad) has happened the last few years. Last years fire, the year before that a dude ran his bike through a barbwire fence and took his and his lady's head off. The year before that someone got stabbed.
I would stick with Okeene. ;)
