Looking for an upgrade to the POS 4 cup Mr. Coffee we have now. If it grinds the beans to that would be a plus, but not a necessary feature. Timer is the only necessary feature, as with the little one, my mornings can be rushed. I am a novice in the coffee world (1 cream, 1 sugar) so any advice, types of coffee etc is welcomed. Would like to stay under $125 if possible.

If you really look around for one at a good price(usually around $100)you can't go wrong with a Bunn.
It has a seperate tank for water, which when you get it..add your first pot of water to the top(which fills the aux tank)and then in the morning you add another pot of water which in turn forces the now warmed up water thru the filter basket and into the pot
Voila, coffee made in under a minute.

One thing to note, if you live in an area that suffers from hard water...they are very durable, where our Mr Coffee went tits up in under a week 1/2.

We had one that ground the beans and while it was cool, it was twice as hard to keep clean.

We got one now that has an insulated carafe and no warming plate. Keeps the coffee from getting burned if it sits for long periods like ours tends to on weekends.

It is a cuisinart. It's got a stainless steel carafe.

I have had this one for 5 years...freshly ground coffee every morning at exactly 5:30 a.m. and you don't have to remember to turn anything off.

what i was going to post. you can buy a braun/black and decker coffee grinder for 20$ at Target. the grinds-its-own-beans thing is a nifty boutique feature but a pain in the rear to clean. plus the bean residue develops acidity which affects flavor down the road. spend the 20$ on a self-standing, easy to clean grinder and no headaches.

edit: plus, the grinder goes kaput, all you have to do is go back to Target and not buy a whole new 100-150$ coffee maker. I've been using the same Krups grinder for 15 years.

If you go that route, I think the Braun lets you remove the entire grinder cup (not just the lid)...makes cleanup infinitely easier. I have one just to grind my flaxseed.
