Somewhat puzzling considering Obama has an approval rating roughly equivalent to Reagan's at the same point.

I agree Froze.

Funny that the market is recovering a little and some folks decide to spread a "Rumor?" that people are becoming remorse?

If the market continues to get better and people's portfolios begin to grow again...even a little...I think he'll get even more slack time from Citizens.

Of course anything is possible...there's tons of unknowns right now.

It's just a matter of the WSJ and Scott Rasmussen gaming their own poll results.

I mean, really. Reporting that "Rasmussen Reports data shows that Mr. Obama's net presidential approval rating -- which is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve -- is just six, his lowest rating to date" implies that a president with 3% who strongly approve, 92% who approve, and 5% who strongly disapprove is an unpopular president.

i listen to the BBC radio at night and, as a 3rd party service, you don't hear any of the Obama is the socialist devil stuff there you hear on predominantly right wing/Obama is trashing the constitution and perverting what makes America, America chicken little AM radio stuff.

you can say what you want about the BBC, but it's hardly Pravda.

this is just a footnote to the countless "Obama can't win, and here's why" posts from Homey over the last 18 months. Sarah Palin has energized the "base"...post in 3,2,1.....;)

I recall Reagan wasn't really all that popular until after he was shot. He gained admiration in how he responded to the situation. It was a magic bullet that coated him with teflon.

Meh, it's not like there's a returns desk for voters with buyer's remorse. Should have kept your receipt and not let the 30-day return period pass... or whatever.

I think people's own situations during the next four years will determine whether or not they think highly of Obama. If they've got a job, their 401K doesn't turn into a 101k, they have their home still and aren't swimming in debt and facing foreclosure or bankrupcy, then yeah, they'll probably not hate Obama too.

I think you're mistaken on that, but since I was 6 during Reagan's first 90 days, I'll take your word for it.

Yeah, that is some huge recovery the market is making. Please.

So where did ST use the word "huge" in his post? He didn't inflate anything, but you sure did.

No remorse here.

We were totally screwed to begin with and President Obama is at least articulating the right noise.

Just think-we could have Phil "You're all a bunch of whiners, the economy's fine" Gramm in charge of Treasury now.

Heh, I actually read Pravda for ****s and giggles. It's often pretty amusing.

Were you not aware that UBS (vice-chair: Phil Gramm) just got hit with a $780 million fine for helping people commit tax fraud and evasion?

I believe most politicians are crooks. Why isn't Gramm behind bars? Why isn't Giethner? It's amazing the crap that gets pulled in DC every day that common people rot in prison for.

It's not reasonable to not expect a media source that is (basically) owned by a government that has slid into the morass of socialism to be highly critical of a politician whom some perceive as doing his level best to slide his country into the same morass.

That's like expecting ESPN to delivery coverage critical of the disproportionate influence of media conglomerates on sport.

Also, the word "morass" is awesome because you get to say "more ***" but it sounds smart.

This March, like Marches past, I give eternal thanks that Dickie V and the rest of ESPN will not be covering the NCAA Tourney for reasons like the above.

:P haha, I just snuck sports into the south oval!

Dude seems like a nice guy, but his on-air personality is a little over the top for my tastes... but before I completely thread-jack this away from the original topic, I'll try to steer it back in the correct direction by saying... um...

I wonder if ESPN has buyer's remorse yet for signing on Dick Vitale, much like WSJ alleges that Obama voters have buyer's remorse?

all those words sound pretty together but aren't very accurate. the BBC, by design, has independence from political faction....the public service model of broadcasting was originally set up as "alternative" to state-run media...and to protect broadcasting from the pressures of the market (profit-making for news)....it may seem outdated to some (public service broadcasting)....but next time you complain about the news being brainless infotainment think about what a strictly consumer driven media "really" looks like. a purely liberalized commercial media would be 30% religious programming, 20% infomercials, 40% porn, and 10% poker.

the BBC is independent. it operates under a royal charter through 2013. and operates under a commercial trust (the BBC trust) since 2007.

it's too easy to call everything "socialism". given the impoverishment of international news in US TV, i'm willing to brave the "commie water" on BBC radio instead of having over 75% of international news in the US a product of gov press releases that have been touched by highly paid PR firms. US media exists in a vacuum where there is very little international news gathering.....BBC, call it vestiges of empire, is still the largest news gathering service in the world. and they also still pay for investigative journalism....which is RARE in the US. it's the first cost-cutting measure to go....and much cheaper to hire hack pundits and read the press releases.
