I'm amazed the Athletic Department allowed this to happen during football season. If they open up the field for GA, imagine the turf wear. Wasn't that an issue when the Stones came like 10 years ago? Although...the shows on the 19th, and we don't play again until the 31st...so even if it get's real F'd up, there might be time to repair it.

Man, that's the Monday after OU-Texas too. Boren should just go ahead and cancel class that Monday. Anybody in Norman won't be focusing on school that day. I know I won't be focusing on work if I get tickets.

For the amount of money it would bring in, not just for the school but the town, it was probably a no-brainer decision.

The Rolling Stones played there in October of '97. I recall that they covered the field with some sort of tarp with padding. I don't think the field was damaged much at all, but would it have really had much bearing with that team??

Can Bono's head even fit inside the stadium?

Non-issue. We didn't play football in 1997.

I don't really like U2, but it's pretty cool that they are coming to Norman. Most the other places on their tour are big cities. Norman has to be the smallest town on the tour list.

Norman show on the 19th, Glendale on the 20th. All of the other shows have at least 2 days of downtime. These 2 shows are the only back-to-back shows. I'd be willing to say right now the Norman show will be a bit short on time.

Also I see Jerryworld in Arlington the week before too....

Bono's Katie Kuroc's were mind boggling, he was a Kutie Kuroc though wasn't he.

I saw U2 for the first time at Red Rock's, they were awesome. Can't wait to see them in Norman.

We play UT in Dallas on the 17th, two days before, and KU in Lawrence 5 days after. The stadium will not be in use for game day for three weeks from the Baylor game the 10th until the K-State game on the 31st. Will the field prep for the big U2 event hurt us getting ready for KU? It will mean tens of thousands of extra folks around Norman and the campus the weekend before and up until the Tuesday after. I have seen U2 three times in Dallas. They were there before and after the 9/11 attack in 2001 and again in 2005. The second post-9/11 U2 show was the greatest. They changed the song line-up from the earlier 2001 show, and the overall setlist was better. Many artists were not going on the road in 2001 in 9/11 and U2 hit all of the venues that they hit in early 2001, only in reverse, if I remember correctly, which means if the first show was in Miami the last show was in Miami, and if the third show was in Dallas, the third from the end was in Dallas.
