My best friend's 3 year old niece was diagnosed over the weekend with stage IV nephroblastoma (aka Wilms tumor)...a form of kidney cancer with spread to the liver, lungs, etc. She will have to have both kidneys removed and undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy..I'm not sure what the prognosis is but it can't be good. Would you please add Kaylee and her family to every prayer list you know?

I just recently lost my mom to cancer and, as bad as that was, she had a good 65 year life. I just can't understand why this can happen to a 3 year old.

One of the last things my mom did was ask that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude's as she had long been involved with it and recognized the help that these kids need.

Kaylee will be in my prayers.

She is only having her left kidney removed, so that's good..she should be in surgery now, it was scheduled for 8:30..should take about 4 hours.

Dang that is horrible. FWIW, sounds like a job for St. Jude's in Memphis. I'd call 'em ASAP if I were someone close to the family.

i love seeing every victory against cancer. hopefully in 50 years medicine will have a complete stranglehold on the disease so we can just write about it in history books a la the plague

My daughter turns 4 six days after Kaylee does--I didn't see this thread the first time around, and I was afraid the update wouldn't be good.

I'm very happy for Kaylee and the family.

he was feeling good and and thought he had beaten it, but found out there was more cancer in his intestine right before Labor Day.

he still wanted to go to the BYU game but had to cancel at the last minute because he was too weak. like a week ago he had to go to the hospital with trouble breathing.

i found out Friday once i was already in Miami that his funeral was yesterday
