If you liberal Democrats were honest with yourselves, you'd admit that the "Ballerina" took Rush's comments waaay out of context.

What he actually said, was something like "If Obama's goals are socialism, then i hope he fails."

But, you guys are so good at lying, distorting the truth, and using the media for propaganda, that you have the uninformed masses convinced of your lie.

It's becoming more apparent with each passing day that Obama's goals are for some sort of European-style socialist system. At best.

I would rather see civil war, anarchy, and collapse.

then what Rush says is that he hopes Obama would fail. just to complete the syllogism.

i think it's really hypocritical for people to hope for anarchy, hiding guns in the hills, and "collapse"...when mere criticism of the POTUS in 2002 or 2003 about the "wars" made someone "anti-american". now, civil war, anarchy, and collpase...is some kind of hero, "true american" thing.

And another thing:

The fact that you put so much faith in government to solve your day to day problems in life is just unimaginable to me. Why would you want to give so much power to someone other than yourself over your own life? Not only that, but an institution that is known for it's inefficiency and it's bloated bureaucracy that promotes its "administrators" via the Peter Principle. If anyone here doesn't know what the Peter Principle is, read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Principle

We are headed for servitude and slavery, all for the dream of some Marxist egalitarian society that will do an outstanding job of spreading misery to everyone. That is, unless you are the ruling elite.

This is nothing more than the caste system brought back in modern form, fueled by envy and the desire to get even. Mark my words: some of us aren't going to roll over.

and how we pick and choose among the civil liberties and call ourselves "libertarians" or "conservatives" who defend the constitution.

i think there's a lot of hypocrisy among conservatives when it comes to the bill of rights and their commitment to so-called civil liberties in the last presidential administration.

you are free to disagree, but don't get high and mighty about the Bill of Rights if you think/thought surveillance was justified in 2003 about what books people check out of a library and who applies for a license to buy a gun.

This is something I just don't understand. Too many people have this idealistic view of revolution or civil war that ultimately ends up individuals regaining individual freedom.

Just from looking around the world, more than likely this ends with either some ruthless dictator or some vigilante group suppressing/murdering/imprisoning anyone who is either different from them or disagrees with them.

With that kind of thinking you would have missed out on the best Home Game of the year by passing on the Texas Tech Game.

I think you might want to really make both the whorn game and aggie if your thinking about it at all.

You should at least do the aggie game as it's a Home Game. Throw the whorns in if you want...but seeing the Sooners at Home makes more sense as a Sooner Fan IMO.

When did I ever say communism equals socialism? I was saying just the opposite - that guys like Jerk are saying that any social programs are equivalent to Soviet style communism. They may use the term socialism but they want visions of Stalin to dance in your head...

In a way, you kind of made my point for me.

I am guessing by your post that you could not tell me the difference either as most people who try to explain the difference are absolutely incorrect. You seem to be implying that communism is a form of government whereas socialism and capitalism are economic philosophies.

The actual original definition of communism is a state that is reached after there is no need for money or government, etc. Yes, it is a bata$$ crazy idea - totally against human nature.

I'm not sure what you your point is about China. Please explain. While China may be in a wierd state of some capitalism and some communism, those two philosophies are definitely contradictory.

I'm reading between the lines here but as best as I can tell you are the one who needs to go back and take a government class.

Communist: system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single - often authoritarian - party holds power; state controls are imposed with the elimination of private ownership of property or capital while claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people (i.e., a classless society).

Capitalist is an economic system in which wealth, and the means of producing wealth, are privately owned and controlled rather than commonly, publicly, or state-owned and controlled. Through capitalism, the land, labor, and capital are owned, operated, and traded by private individuals either singly or jointly, and investments, distribution, income, production, pricing and supply of goods, commodities and services are determined by voluntary private decision in a market economy. A distinguishing feature of capitalism is that each person owns his or her own labor and therefore is allowed to sell the use of it to employers. In a "capitalist state", private rights and property relations are protected by the rule of law of a limited regulatory framework. In the modern capitalist state, legislative action is confined to defining and enforcing the basic rules of the market, though the state may provide some public goods and infrastructure.

With that said, you can have a communist country, like China, that allows for stock markets and public trading. Google China Stock Market Security Index.

You could also have a democracy that is socialist and owns all public social programs and revenue (Venezuela).

Or you could have a democracy that is a capitalist state (USA). Or a communist government that is a socialistic state(Cuba, North Korea, and Old USSR).

In other words, Communism is a form of government, while Capitalism and Socialism are not.

We fall more into the democracy form of government.

A democracy is a system of government in which political control is exercised by all people either directly, or through their elected representatives. Democracy is a form of government in which power is held directly or indirectly by citizens under a free electoral system.

Just to point out that that is not the original definition of communism and it is definitely immaterial to my original point. And, by the way, if you refer to the definition of communism that does refer to a system of government then you need to capitalize it - something I never did.

The fact is that I used communism in its correct context in my original post. From Merriam Webster, "a theory advocating the elimination of private property," which can be accurately portrayed as the opposite extreme of capitalism. (Given, this definition differs from the idealistic ideas of Marx that attribute communism to a state where government is no longer necessary but in either case I used the term correctly.)

I think I've proven that I grasp the subject well enough to skip that government class thank you very much.
