Does the f-bomb lose its effectiveness if you say it all of the time?

That depends entirely on the circumstances. I heard Tim Wilson's I Could be Wrong on the way to work this morning. It uses the F word in about every verse and is funny as hell. Give it a listen sometime, definately NSFW.

When I was in the army profanity was WAY overused and was much less effective. I find now that profanity shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary (i.e. stubbing you toe, hitting body parts with a hammer, etc.) That way when you do use those words thay have much more impact and somebody knows they are going to get ****ed up!

I haven't said the f word in probably 10-12 years, so If I said it, I m pretty sure I would have people's attention that know me

The beauty of the word ****, is that it can be used as a noun, verb, adverb, pronoun or even an adjective.

So, I'd say no, it cannot be overused to the point of lost effectiveness.

I knew an old Navy guy that said GD and **** so much it was just a normal part of his way of speaking. I doubt he even realized he was cussing anymore. It was like a jock who says "you know" all the time or a teen saying "like" or "dude" all the time.

Simply, no it does not.

While overuse may soften the blow of an individual usage of the F-bomb, the effectiveness of the word simply shifts from being used for emphasis or color to being very effective at clearly identifying it's over-user as a twit.

college students like a little profanity. it makes the teacher seem like a real person and not a preacher, even though they have the same lack of respect for both. it's not like they go to the G rated movies or don't have the body parts for sex.

Perhaps one of the most interesting words in the English language today, is the word ****.
Out of all of the English words which begin with the letter F, **** is the only word referred to as the "F" word, it's the one magical word.
**** as most words in the english language, is derived from German, the word "flicken", which means to strike.
In English, **** falls into many grammatical categories.

As a transitive verb, for instance.
John ****-ed Shirley.
As an intransitive verb, Shirley ****S.
It's meaning's not always sexual; it can be used as an adjective,
such as John's doing all the ****-ing work.
As part of an adverb,
Shirley talks too ****-ing much.
As an adverb enhancing an adjective,
Shirley is ****-ing beautiful.
As a noun, I don't give a ****.
As part of a word abso-****ING-lutely,
or in-****ING-credible.
And, as almost every word in the sentence,
**** the ****-ing ****-ers.

As you must realize, there aren't too many words with the versatility of ****.
As in these examples describing situations such as fraud,
I got ****-ed at the used car lot.
Dismay, Aw **** it.
Trouble, I guess I'm really ****-ed now.
Agression, Don't **** with me buddy.
Difficulty, I don't understand this ****-ing question.
Inquiry, Who the **** was that?
Dissatisfaction, I don't like what the **** is going on here.
Incompetence, He's a ****-off.
Dismissal, Why don't you go outside and play hide-and-go-**** yourself?

I'm sure you can think of many more examples.
With all these multi purpose applications, how can anyone be offended when you use the word? We say, use this unique, flexible word more often in your daily speech. It will identify the quality of your character immediately.
Say it loudly, and proudly!
**** you!
