NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Jeff Capel announced Friday following the Sooners' afternoon practice that sophomore forward Blake Griffin has been cleared by team physician Brock Schnebel to play in Saturday's game at Texas Tech.
Griffin sustained a concussion last Saturday in the first half of Oklahoma's game at Texas (played 11 minutes) and remained on the bench after halftime. He also missed OU's game against No. 15 Kansas on Monday. The third-ranked Sooners, who are 25-3 overall and 11-2 in the Big 12, lost both contests.
The 6-10, 251-pound Griffin paces the Big 12 Conference with his 22.0 points and 13.8 rebounds a game, and shoots a league-best .632 from the field. He ranks second in the country with 22 double-doubles.
Saturday's game at Texas Tech (12-16 overall, 2-11 Big 12) will start at 2:30 p.m. and be regionally televised by ABC.
