SC Senate leader closing Confederate gift shop

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The leader of the South Carolina Senate says he's closing the Confederate gift shop he and his brother have operated in the Charleston area for 20 years.
Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell told the Post and Courier of Charleston that the gift market is changing for everyone.
McConnell says he and his brother Sam, plan to close the CSA Galleries in North Charleston, probably by the end of March.
The shop holds a collection of art, a custom frame shop, antiques and their own lines of South Carolina and historical collectibles. The men say they've worked nearly every day for 20 years.
Many of the items are now on sale at 50 percent off. But McConnell says he doesn't expect to sell everything before the store closes. He says some of the items may be donated to a museum.
