View Full Version : Sooners v. whorns (super early game thread)

It's been a long time since I was this excited about a Sooner hoops game. It's approaching football levels.

This is going to be a very tough game for several reasons:

1. It's in Austin.
2. We have the bullseye firmly planted on our back.
3. Texas has sucked over the last 10 days (going 2 -4, with one of their wins being a OT win over the Buffs).

As bad as Texas has played of late, I still think they match-up with us (down low) about as good as anyone.

It's 6 hours til tip, and I'm ready to go now!

Until recently, OU absolutely owned saxet on the basketball court, having won over 72% of all games played through 2002. Since then, however, the whorns put together streaks of 5 and 6 games, to take 11 of 15 from the Sooners. A sweep of two (or three) games versus saxet this year would be real nice.

For the record, OU leads the series 46-27.

The most points by OU versus ut is 124 in a game played in OKC in 1988.

The most points by ut versus OU is 95 . . . in a game played in OKC in 1988.
The whorns have never topped the century mark scoring versus the Sooners.

OU is 3-0 in OT versus ut.

OU has had streaks of 8 and 9 wins versus the whorns.

Their longest streaks were the 5 and 6 wins previously mentioned.

The Sooners are 16-14 versus saxet in Austin.

There's no way that play they showed on TV caused a concussion.... no freakin way. There was zero contact on that.

Blakes concussion HAD to come from an earlier play, probably when he was double teamed under the basket and went up against Pittman.

done for the night with a concussion. How the @#$@ do you get a concussion in a basketball game due to contact to the head and still draw no foul?

I don't know the last time I saw this much bullsh!t come out of a basketball game. It no longer becomes a simple matter of, "This is bad officiating!" in a situation like this. This type of sh!t puts players' safety at risk.

Pittman almost knocks a guy on *** by clipping him in the side. Clear blocking foul. Guess what? Another no-call.

I agree. The hit had to be on another play. The hit didn't appear to be that hard. I think that Alex better tie Blake to the chair on the bench to keep him from going in.

I wish OU would leave the Big 12 since it is obvious that Texas gets all the breaks from officiating in all sports in Austin. Why I didn't watch the game because I cannot stand to listen to Vitale on a good day! I HATE ESPN, their announcers, and their Game Day in football and basketball.

Oklahoma owns a 46-28 all-time record against Texas and is 22-9 versus the Longhorns in Norman.
• The Sooners have won 28 of the last 44 overall meetings
• Oklahoma won eight straight games over Texas from 2000 to 2002 before the Longhorns won the next five meetings in the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
• OU is 17-15 against UT since the inception of the Big 12 Conference (that includes a 4-2 record in the league tournament).

So yes, it is special when you crack a win. Glad you squeaked one out at home with the soon to be player of the year off the court.

Seeing how your team wasn't exactly dominating UT when Griffin was playing, I find it hard to believe that OU would've definitely won had he not gotten hurt. For one thing, Warren probably takes less shots if Griffin is playing. Face it, Dexter Pittman is a huge presence and Blake has trouble with him on both sides of the court. You can admit it.

For a game that wasn't that big of a deal, you sure seem to think that it grants you magical powers.

You're in the NCAAs IF (and only if) you don't revert back to form and lose to Tech and keep stumbling down the stretch. You have to win out and probably win at least one game in OKC to get yourselves off the bubble. Personally, I hope you flame out just so I can see the stunned looks on your faces Selection Sunday when you're left out yet again, going "But...but....WE BEAT BLOW U!! WAAAAAAAAAHH!"

Which must explain why Blake paced all OU ballers back on January 12th against Texas with an 8-13 performance from the field, scored 20 points, and pulled down 10 boards.

But no. Go ahead and cling to your belief that Pittman and Texas would have been able to hold Griffin down the entire game based on 11 minutes of play.

F**kstick.
