LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech and coach Mike Leach have agreed on a new contract after months of contentious negotiations.

The school called a news conference for Thursday evening to announce details of the agreement.

Leach and Texas Tech had essentially agreed on the financial terms of a five-year, $12.7 million deal. But Leach took issue with several clauses the school added when the sides were trading proposals.

He was prepared to keep coaching under the remaining two years of a five-year, $10 million contract.

Sounds like Leach got what he wanted and the Tech AD looked like a fool.

To break the contract down more... pirate-like...

Leach gets:
-More pirate booty
-Less plank walking
-The same amount of rum, should the ship leave him behind

Tech gets:
-A captain that knows how to navigate sandy waters.
