Cannon Dismissed From Oklahoma Men's Basketball Team

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma men's basketball head coach Jeff Capel announced this evening that sophomore Kyle Cannon has been dismissed from the OU squad for violating team rules.

Cannon, a 6-8, 236-pound forward from Baltimore, Md., played in nine of OU's 26 games this season and averaged 1.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.8 minutes a contest.

"We wish Kyle the best of luck in the future," said Capel, who added that he would have no further comment on the matter.

I don't know what the issue was, but he never looked like he was happy to be here. At least O. Allen is excited and cheers for his teammates.

The guy is Keith Clark reincarnated- a big man that things he is better off shooting threes. Couple with the fact that it looked like he was about to fall asleep at the end of the bench every game and it didn't look like he was contributing to this team very much. Best of luck Kyle Cannon, we're no worse off without you.

I don't know the circumstances of his dismissal, but I'll trust you guy's judgment on this, in that he likely wasn't very happy about sitting on the bench and could have become a team cancerous liability.

Even without knowing the circumstances, I support Jeff Capel and trust his judgment. If Capel dismissed him, he must have had very good reasons.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up, if anywhere.

I don't really know what the situation was with Keith Clarks academics, but I kind of wish that we had used Cannon's scholarship to bring Clark back, I know that Pattillo was the last scholarship used but with all that Cannon has proved to be then I wish that we had brought Clark back. With that said. Is their somebody will use that scholarship for in the 2009 class or will we use it for 2010?
