Hall Park is notable for being established as Oklahoma's first "all-electric" town. Ronald Reagan, then a spokesman for General Electric, visited Hall Park upon its opening and was bestowed an honorary mayorship. Hall Park was unique in establishing common-area backyards, resulting in a very high rate of public space per square mile.

Financial and infrastructure troubles plagued Hall Park throughout its history. The arsenic groundwater regulations established in January, 2001 resulted in Hall Park's only independent water sources being declared in violation of federal drinking water standards.

In 2005, Hall Park was annexed by Norman, Oklahoma, and ceased to be a town, becoming instead a group of housing subdivisions. Ike Hall's daughter purchased the Hall Park water tower which now sits in her yard.

Wow...never knew Hall Park was famous like that.

I've never heard of Hall Park but I vaguely remember the story of a town being annexed and someone buying the water tower.

Hall Park had 3 cops for one mile of road. I got a ticket from one of 'em 100 yards from my house.

Walt lives in one of them, Yo Walt!

My mother lives at the top of the HP hill. There was a time when you could see Lake Thunderbird and the buildings of downtown from her back deck. The greenbelt that was part of her backyard for 20 years has been sucked up by Maxine Bates' development machine. Now she will have a fence and another backyard 13 feet from her kitchen window. None of the neighbors realized the greenbelt was not "official" in that section. Should've become "public domain" but too late now.

Maxine tried to do this for 15 years and failed as long as HP was it's own entity. The day the annexation passed, she was at the courthouse filing her plat map....sigh.
