Possibly. He'll be making a trip to Austin at the end of this month for their Junior Day.

Texas pulled in a 5* DE (Brian Pickeryl) back in 2002. But you're right, it is pretty rare for them to cross the border.

It'd be kinda shocking if he didn't go to Texas. Grew up a horn fan.

Agreed that he'll probably end up in Austin, but I can't help but think you guys will be in the mix before it's all said and done. I think he's supposed to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend for our junior day. IMO, he'd be a tough pull for us but nice that he's listing us high on his list.

Pikreryl (sp?) grew up in Texas, sort of like Russell Gaskamp (Weatherford Ok). Not sure about Adam Doirion (Duncan).

It's not like UTerus is plucking lifelong Okies and turning them into All-Americans.

As far as "growing up a [team X] fan," I'm not concerned. Tommie, AD, Dusty, MK, and plenty other big time performers have changed their minds in the Stoops era. I'm sure if you knew the truth about all things, you'd hear a whorn or two had a soft spot for OU back in their day before they signed with UT.

Exceptions are not the rule. There are plenty more players who signed with Texas because that was their dream school than guys who spurned their dream school in our favor.

4.76 won't keep him from being a top prospect. His senior production might. That's probably what the majority of guys run out of HS. If he has the talent and skill set then he'll be fine. He's rated as an athlete out of HS, so he could play a number of positions.

No it won't since he's already been offered by everyone. Schools don't care about posted 40 times or high school stats. They care about athletic ability and if you watch his videos, you'll see he has tons.

Demarco Cobbs is one that I don't mind getting away. I don't know the kid personally, and he may be a great human, but there's just something about him I don't like. Seems kind of a snake to me.

I could understand Okies going to Tennessee in down years like Marcus Nash of Edmond a few years back but now?If I wanted to go out of state I would at least want to play for a winner.

Much like I said in another thread, there is at least one other receiver that we are/were in on, Lucas, who is all but eliminating us because of the WR recruits that we are bringing. Both of these young men probably know that White and Prater are on their way to Norman, and they would never see the field.

there are six kids if i counted right outside of texas on the texas roster. one being from mexico, making mexico more of a hot spot for texas football then oklahoma, i add nothing to this conversation other then just pointing that out

Is there any reason that has been rumored or spoken about as to why he has disdain for OU?

I don't know that I've ever heard of a kid from Oklahoma who hated OU and loved us without some kind of family tie or something.

Lots of Texas fans have popped up in recent years all around the country. It's part of winning an MNC in 2005. I don't necessarily know if he's a Texas fan, since he's committed to the other UT... but just pointing it out that it's not the craziest thing to ever happen.

While I now live in Galveston, Tulsa is my home town. I am told by people who are familiar with this kid & his situation that those who advise him & look out for his best interests, recommended that he go out of state to school.

Apparently, he lives in a very tough environment. I may have the specifics wrong but possibly one parent in jail & his "posse" a group of undesirables that have, in the past, had undue influence on him.

There is nothing about OU or OSU that is making him go elsewhere, it's all about an attempt by those who care about him to get him as far away from Tulsa as possible.

There was an article awhile back in the TW about how he's had to "re-focus" in life and how he "turned things around."

I don't care if he ends up a whorn, I hope if that's what it takes to get a thug off the streets and make a better life for himself, I'm all for it.

Just be careful about putting us on any of your "lists" once you get there, Demarco. :D

Yeah, if this is the case, I have no problem with him heading down south. His life and his future are the most important things.
