I might try my luck with the Hack-A-Blake defense. I'd deplete my bench by fouling him with subs everytime he touched the ball, he shooting free throws at a 59% rate. Everytime he touched it away from the basket I'd double team and foul him on purpose, making him win it with free throws.

What did you think of Blake's 8-10 performance at the FT line on Saturday?

BTW, he a 64% FT shooter.

The biggest problem with the hack a blake plan is by the time it is say the 5-6 minute mark of the game Blake has drawn 8-9 fouls on the opposing team already. Also as it was pointed out Blake is about a 64% foul shooter. Giving up 6 points in 5 trips down the floor, that is IF there are no offensive rebounds on any of the free throws and giving up 5 fouls to do it isn't exactly going to work. If Blake was a 45% shooter, maybe.

That's what you get for thinking all by yourself !

According to ESPN, Blake is a 59.2% FT shooter.

It looked like he changed his free throw shooting motion a little bit the last game. It kinda worked.

Uh-Oh...Happy learned how to putt...

He's had some really good games at the line.

Davidson - 11/12 - 92%
UAB - 10/14 - 71%
Utah - 11/14 - 79%
Coppin- 4/4 - 100%
UMES - 2/2 - 100%
A&M - 4/5 - 90%
Baylor - 8/10 - 80%
Tech - 8/10 - 80%

I have faith that he'll hit em at crunch time.

I think teams already do this, i.e. USC's Leonard Washington

Blake gets up every time though.

That's a terrible use of fouls, especially early in the game.

For one, if you're goal is to send Blake to the foul line, well you've already failed if the foul is on the floor. All your doing is either getting your important big men in needless foul trouble or using your bench, at the expense of minutes for your big men, to use up those fouls.

Don Nelson tried Hack a Shaq and Hack a Bruce when he was with the Mavs, and we all saw how far that got him against the Lakers and Spurs.
