The women get the men gifts of chocolate and the guys do nothing...

The project team here has been trying to convince their wives (those that are on an accompanied basis) of the necessity of complying with the local customs... :)

You know what? I would say that anyone who has a warm body next to them every night, let alone on VDay, should quit their f'n complaining and buy some damned flowers.

Before you rub your V-Day in other people's faces, remember that it is also a SAD day... Single Awareness Day, if you would.

So everyone enjoy your V-Day, just realize that some people will be enjoying it in other ways. :)

I think White Day is the day the guys give chocolate to the girls.

EDIT: After reading this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Day) it appears that the day is one month after V-day and the guy should spend about three times the effort/money. Typical. ;)

It's like Korea. They have White Day on March 14, which is when the guys give gifts to each woman who gave them chocolate.

Yep, apparently as my Japanese hosts have explained is that it (white day) started as a little girls holiday where they got dolls and stuff and then they drank some white sweet drink and then it morphed into adult women...

Valentines here is a manufactured holiday by the Japanese confectioners businesses. It didn't exist up until recently (don't know how long ago). The secretaries in the office had chocolates out for all the male workers.

Not to bash Valentines, just the obscene commercialism.
