Social Security will disappear on its own, thanks to IOU's every time the government wants to open the "lockbox" and get its grubby fingers on the money, or the sheer fact that people always seem to get more out than they originally paid.

It's not like other countries aren't also swimming in debt too. part of being a global economy and part of one is that nobody is self reliant and lives with their own resources anymore.

We also had Clinton for eight years and Carter for four. If they didn't ruin the country in that much time Obama won't have a chance to do it in 100 days.

The further we fall into debt now will hopefully mean more years of responsibility in the future. Economics is cyclical, so this will end eventually. When it does, I hope the Californias and the liberal in us all (yes, even the most staunch Republicans have liberal moments of weakness) remember these times and prepare for the seven years of famine during the seven years of feast.
