Dude is a celebrity. Maybe he is taking notes on how to win a game on the east coast!

My guess is Capel let him use his season tickets. As a former player and son-in-law of a NC state legislator and Duke Law alum...I'm sure he's got hookups most of us can only dream of.

my friend called me up to tell me, but by that time i'd missed it, of course. now i'm wondering, how did you guys catch this if you were watching OU play? ;-)

Stoops and Joe C. were there. Is he able to start visiting potential recruits yet? I can't imagine them both being out there just to go to the UNC/Duke game.

Which by the way, Lawson is a stud. I'm really worried if we have to go up against him in the tourney.

Ironically, other teams are saying that about Blake!

Blake certainly is a beast out there, and tough to handle for any team in the country. However, I don't ever think you can undervalue a big, strong, physical guard like Lawson or Fields from Pitt. Guys that have great first steps and the ability to get by their man and if not all the way to the basket, have the ability to hit the pull up jumper or draw in a help defender only to dish it to a big down low.

Great guards are hard to stop come tourney time. It'll be a true test for our guys and Capel when we run into one of them down the road.

but enough about this....the thread was about Stoops and Joe C. being at the game. Anyone know if he was out there visiting recruits? Or if that is even permitted at this point of the offseason?

If nobody else will say it, I will:

Were flights from Norman to Waco full?

My thoughts exactly. I know Duke/UNC is a big rivalry and all but when your own school is playing on the same night, it looks bad that they were there instead of Waco.

I know, too bad we dont have Willie Warren...I guess he wouldnt count though cus he can do all those things but he can also dunk over 6'6'' guys so maybe that doesnt count

I love Willie, he has all the skills and the athleticism that every team craves, but you're crazy if you'd honestly take him "right now" over a guy like Ty Lawson or Josh Fields.

Willie just needs more experience and a bit more consistency before I'd put him up there with the elite guards in the college ranks. When he is on, he is definitely a top 5 guard in the country, hands down. When he's off, he probably doesn't make the top 10.

In Willie's defense, I still don't think we are utilizing his skills properly. I'd love to see him carve the defense up and penetrate those zone defenses off some more high screens. That would bring our offense up to a whole new level if we implemented a bit more of that.

I don't blame him for going. He's been at his share of OU games. A chance to catch a Duke-UNC game is worth taking up at least once if you could. I bet Coach K wouldn't mind watching an OU-Tex football game sometime.

Stoops, Joe C, & Kevin Wilson (UNC grad) were guests of A. McClendon (Duke grad) for the game. They all started the weekend at the 10th annual Sooners in the Desert fundraiser in Palm Beach.

Thanks for actually providing a worthwhile post!!! I've been reading the whole thread for some possible reason as to why he was there.
