Smoove.

But it seems the minions of the WH press corpse :) are hellbent on trying to get him to potty mouth the Bush Administration (like they're not doing well enough by themselves, thank you).

And what's up with Helen Thomas? She refers to "so-called terrorists." Meh, they're just misunderstood, Helen. Go home; it's past your bedtime.

One other Goober wants The O's support of prosecuting Bush officials for (fill in the blank).

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

I'll admit to not being an Obama fan at all, but I heard lots of: ummmms, and uhhhhs...kinda like if I was teaching sex-ed to a bunch of 3rd graders. In other words, I didn't get the smoove part.

Yep. Unless he's delivering a scripted speech (which he does quite well), it's tough to listen to him stammer around while trying to answer questions. That may explain his affinity for his Press Secretary Gibbs, who basically stammers just as much in his press conferences. Painful to watch, it is.

While in DC on business a few years ago, I saw that wench standing next to me at a crosswalk. It took a lot of restrain to keep from knocking that thing to the ground....

"So called terrorists."

Nice.

Also nice to see the liberal radio and blogs get treated as the MSM now. I wonder what people would have said if Limbaugh or Hannity had been asking questions during Bush's press conferences???

I mean, I shouldn't, but this is the fear forum.

Dubya - The first press conference

With Barack Obama’s first press conference as president scheduled on Monday night, one obvious question that comes up is what kind of questions he will receive from the White House press corps. His predecessor, George W. Bush, faced some pressing questions during his first press conference on February 22, 2001.

Liberal firebrand Helen Thomas offered the most politically-charged question: “Mr. President, why do you refuse to respect the wall between the church and state? And you know that the mixing of religion and government, for centuries, has led to slaughter. The very fact that our country has stood in good stead by having this separation -- why do you break it down?” When President Bush answered that he did “respect the separation of church and state,” Thomas blasted back: “Well, you wouldn't have a religious office in the White House if you did.” Since President Obama has decided to retain Bush’s faith-based initiative (although with a new name and slightly new mission), one wonders if Thomas will press the Democrat on the issue.

Nope, she didn't!

OK... I'm watching the conference being re-run while posting here. While tuning out, he said one thing that I liked that will be in the stimulus. He wants to use money to refurbish public schools. I never see how giving students better classrooms and teachers is a bad thing for the long-run economy and our country as a whole. Smarter, more informed people being produced by our schools is one thing the US needs.

Those nutz don't give two shiats about the price of oil. They know a Carter when they see one, and know they can get a Nuke, and Oblahma won't do a damn thing to stop them. Cause war is bad and stuff.

They care when they can't give their terrorists AKs, or RPMs, or large-scale explosives because the country can't pay for them.

The New Deal sounded like a good idear also, until they tried it.

Some of it was, well, useless pork. Other stuff did things like bring electricity to rural communities. It wasn't as bad as you might think it is.

That said, I'll still stand by the thinking that what brought the US out of the Great Depression was the necessity for the working woman during WWII.

If you go look at some of the literature, you'll find that the length and depth of the Depression in a country is strongly correlated to the length that a country clung to the gold standard.

... and the US held on to it longer than most. There may be some relation there. :)

Thats okay, you probably won't live long enough for it to really effect you.

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important, but enforcing uniformity goes too far.

The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

Elderly Hardest Hit

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

Just DIE DAMMIT DIE

Possible causes of death due to Obama administration:

1. Glorious martyrdom while engaging in holy war against democratically elected, one month-old tyrant Obama.

2. Less than glorious martyrdom while cleaning defective Wal-Mart shotgun for said holy war.

3. Even less glorious martyrdom for drowning while noodling tasty vittles for holy war.

4. Nuclear death due Iran WMDs that "are totally there this time".

5. Asspolding from newly launched Iranian death ray.

6. Illegal immigrant curse.

7. Being caught newly released Gitmo detainee police force and fife band.

8. Tom Daschle's health plan to murder the elderly.
