Gah, they've got U2 opening the show with that sh*tty new song. Even I don't really like Bono anymore, but out of loyalty to Edge, Larry and Adam, I didn't change the channel.

This is gonna suck out loud.

The Rock making fun of Kid Rock just made this worth watching. Perhaps.

Bono's not really your typical ignorant-entertainer-cum-political activist. He's pretty well grounded, a professed Christian, and a generally pretty nice guy by all accounts. Other than that, I got nuttin'

That may be, but he sucks as a frontman now. :D

Al Green, on the other hand, was f*cking AWESOME.

I thought that was a dude in drag.

Looks like the next segment is the "let's get all the rappers out there before one of them gets shot" segment.

Dear baby Jesus, please let it be T.I. that gets shot.

Of the two albums I listened to that were nominated for album of the year I would have picked Radiohead.

bri

Yes, but you aren't factoring in the Jethro Tull Rule: The award goes to the oldest possible nominee.

But hey, as long as Alison Krauss keeps wearing that dress, they can get all the awards they want.

An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore has won the 2009 GRAMMY Award for Best Spoken Word Album.

Now, I know that the awards are rigged.

I watched for about 30 minutes. Thoughts: Katy Perry's performance was awkward ..but I still enjoyed it? Robert Plant (God bless 'im) shamelesly hogged the acceptance mic but I was happy to see he's still got his wits about him. It's amazing how far a pretty face and little talent, a la Taylor Swift, can take someone in the music biz these days. I had a brief mental image of Stevie Wonder applying a smooth no-look double throat-punch to those Jonas geeks while they were jostling for photo ops at his side. On that subject, Stevie Wonder is pretty awesome and sounds like he did.. 30 years ago?? Wow. I'm not a Coldplay fan but they seem like nice guys. In general, I like how some artists lip-synch along to "live-ish" recordings of themselves. If you're gonna lip-synch, just do it to the original recording! You know.. the one that actually sounds good?

What's interesting to note: Coldplay apologized to Sir Paul (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/4565494/Grammy-awards-2009-Coldplay-lead-British-triumph.html), but not Satch. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvB9Pj9Znsw)

:bfc:

Well, when you merged my thread for people who actually watched part or all of the show with the older, crappier thread for people who hate everything that isn't Rush Limbaugh or Toby Keith, the older crappier thread held sway.

Nice work, lady. ;)

Man. I didn't watch the Grammys. Wasn't especially interested. You know what is interesting? That some dude who claims to not watch or care about the Grammys feels compelled to keep posting about them.

bri
2/9/2009, 12:19 PM
Well, it's important to make sure people are crystal clear that you were too good to watch an awards show. Wouldn't want anyone to think you're part of the leftist cultural elite.

That's because they didn't do anything wrong.

A bitter old guitarist is looking for some more fame and recognition is all it amounts to, the songs arent even close and thats why Coldplay refuses to settle out of court. Did anyone watch the 60 minutes interview with Chris Martin, He and Coldplay are very grounded and humble. Nice guys, put on a good show, they deserve their awards.

Now, everyone can tell me im gay for liking Coldplay :D
