View Full Version : Looking at 2010.

With next years class I think we need receivers, defensive lineman, a QB and probably a couple of offensive lineman. Here are a few players that OU is looking at and some already have offers from OU.
QB
Connor Wood 6'4 210 4.6 OU offer
Matt Joeckel 6'4 220 Twin brother Luke has an OU offer.

WR's
Darius Terrell 6'3 208 4.5 OU offer
Mike Davis 6'1 185 4.5 OU offer
John Harris 6'2 187 OU offer (teammate of Jonathan Miller)

OL
Bronson Irwin 6'5 305 OU offer
Tyrus Thompson 6'6 290 5.0 OU offer
Luke Joeckel 6'6 280 OU offer
Trent Spurgeon 6'8 270 No offer but he's an OK kid from Owasso who got overlooked with Brandon Webb and Gavin Howard there. If he gains another 20 lbs he'll be in good shape.

DT's
Daniel Noble 6'4 275 4.85 OU commit
DeAires Cotton 6'4 275 5.0 OU offer
Calvin Barnett 6'3 292 No OU offer, but he's an OK kid from Tulsa BTW and he's getting national attention at a need position for OU.

DE
Jackson Jeffcoat 6'5 240 4.6 OU offer
Ego Ferguson 6'4 260 OU offer
Reggie Wilson 6'4 240 4.8 OU offer

ATH
DeMarco Cobbs 6'2 198 4.5 OU offer Top player in OK for 2010

I have no inside info. This is just info that I have gotten from different sites.

I know we're pretty stocked up at RB right now... BUT I'm hoping that the RB Steven Hopper at Broken Arrow has another big year....and if he proves to have the speed and skills to play at OU, I'd love it if Bob and company go after him.

Here's some facts I dug up about him:

• Junior Steven Hopper – who didn’t play football in 2007 - set the school single season
rushing record with 1,516 yards. The old record was 1,438 by Keith Jacobs in 1998.

• Hopper set the record for touchdowns scored (24), breaking the old mark of 21 by
Prince McKinney in 2005.

• Also, Hopper set the record for most points scored (152) in a single season, besting
the 126 posted by McKinney in 2005.

• Hopper had the eighth-best single game rushing game (196) against Sapulpa.

• Hopper’s 80-yard TD run against Tulsa Memorial was the fifth longest in school history.

• One more Hopper: His 1,516 yards already has him fourth among all-time Tiger ground
gainers.
And here's a thread I posted a while back about him:

It seems like Texas wins the recruiting battle one year, and OU the next. At this point, Jeffcoat seems like yours to lose, Wood is probably yours, and Seastrunk seems to favor USC. Very early yet, as far as rankings, but as of right now, we only get 2 of the top10 Texas recruits.

I've searched for some video of him so I could post it on here, but I can't find any vids anywhere for him. His coaches or whoever is in charge of releasing some of that tape need to get on the ball.
I agree, from what I can tell it seems to be a RB heavy senior class in Oklahoma. But like you said, if he puts together another solid year in 6-A...how can someone not want to scoop him up? Especially if he proves to have the speed they want.

Just ran into more about this Hopper kid:

http://www.vype.com/ok/general/23737

Broken Arrow running back Steven Hopper attended the Schuman's National Underclassmen Football Combine back on May 31st. Schuman's recenlty released the results from the combine. Participants went through a 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump and many other tests and weighing.

Hopper ran the fastest forty yard dash of the combine completing the run in 4.41 seconds. He measured in at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 184 pounds. He registered a 29.5 inch vertical jump and bench pressed 185 pounds 10 times.

Hopper's performance earned him aninvite to the Ultimate 100 Southwest in Dallas, TX

P.S.: No I don't have a man crush on this kid...it's just cool to finally see Broken Arrow have a running back with what looks like tons of potential to possibly play some D1 football. :D

I thought that I would bump this thread to see what others thought that we needed. We look to have almost an entire offense and defense recruited. What I think we still need:

Offensive Tackle: I know that we are still in on Henderson, but I think we have a fall back. It would be great to get another guy in here.
Defensive End: Much like OT, I know that we are still in on a big time recruit, Jeffcoat, but I wonder if we have a fall back guy.
Kicker: I know that Tress Way's "little" brother is still available.

It would be great, as well, to get two of the three amongst Stills, White, and Prater (if what we hear is true about him changing his mind from SUC). I think we get White anyway.

Right now, any WR in the country NOT considering OU is silly. The Sooners have a great QB that will take over for Bradford (probably next year) and right now have nobody for him to throw to. Not to bag on our WRs, but until somebody shows they can catch the rock, they don't deserve a nod.

Any WR with a pulse has a chance to step up and catch Landry's passes next year. And that WR will be a national household name by the time the UT game is over next year. I, for one, am getting sick of WRs that don't catch passes that hit them in the hands.

I came to Tulsa last Friday night to watch my nephew play, and let me tell you, Metro Christian Academy has an incredible senior QB: Beau Marsaln. He's about 6'4"/6'5", and threw for 463 yards. Incredible arm...threw the long out routes on a string (30-35 yards in the air). His 47 yard game-winning td pass was a perfectly thrown ball that actually went about 57 yards in the air. He's the real deal as far as size/strength/mechanics/touch.

MCA is a 3A school that runs the spread offense. Anyone else out there aware of this guy? They're 7-0, and have a great shot at state...

The importance next year will go:

1) TE- We have a number of them, but who will step forward and separate himself from the rest. We might look to get another one.
2) OL- We will have 15 scholly linemen next year, counting recruits.
3) WR- We will have six of the seven top WRs back (only Pooh leaves). They will get better as the get more reps and a chemistry with Landry. I bet we get White, and Lucas or Ransom.
4) DT- Along with McGee, Chaisson, and McFarland, don't forget about Walker and King. AD's cousin also looks like an interesting get.

Yes, he's currently at his 4th high school in as many years I believe. At the very least third. He went and played at smaller schools (2A-3A type levels I believe) his first two years. After Ginther (I believe) graduated from Jenks there was an opening at quarterback. He moved there and was their game one starter. He did decent statistically I believe, but about halfway through the season he was replaced by a sophomore named Sawyer Kollmorgen. Seeing as Kollmorgen was returning, Marsaln once again transferred, this time to Metro Chirstian. Kollmorgen is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the state right now, and rightfully so, but he isn't perfect which leads me to believe that Marsaln isn't Oklahoma quality.

He appears to be dominating at Metro Christian, but let's remember the level of competition. I think Metro Christian is only a 2A school, and they, like all private schools, are at an unfair advantage. There is no doubt that he is talented, but he's going to appear even more talented than he is.

Sorry for all the "I believes". I'm saying this all off the top of my head.

After last night, OUr needs are as follows:

1) OL. I know we have 5 already, but a couple more couldn't hurt.
2) Kicker. The only one that we are in on is Tress's younger brother Cole. Even if it means you go to the soccer team and get somebody, do it! I am sure there is a kicker somewhere in JUCO that could do a good job.
3) WR. Darius White can't get here fast enough!

i would also add that we need a new OL coach, but I digress.
