If Michael Phelps wants to pour alcohol into his face, smoke the marijuana like a cigarette and fornicate with various loose women before beating the world's pants off at swimming, shouldn't we as a nation stand behind him? I mean, Christ, if he was anymore American, he'd be out fighting crime with a talking bald eagle for a sidekick. But then how would other nations know we dominate at the breast stroke? You gotta think these things through.

At the very least this nations marijuana laws need to be amended to exempt people with more than 10 Olympics Gold Medals, and Willie Nelson.

And then go out and do those things.

Man, if you really didn't do those things, then throw as big a rock as you can lift. The other 19 out of 20 of us need to STFU.

It really bugs me how hypocritically sanctimonious we tend to be, myself most definitely included. We talk all kinds of **** about people who get in trouble for doing things that quite a few of us have done. We rag on people who get picked up for DWI, but the only difference between them and quite a few of us is that they got caught and we didn't. We tsk-tsk at teen mothers when, again, the only difference was the girl's time of the month.

We need to get over our sense of moral superiority and examine our own personal histories because more often than not we ourselves are guilty of the same behaviors we're so piously condemning. Hell, Jesus Christ himself backs that one up.

I don't pretend that smoking weed is harmless, and I don't advise it, and there are good reasons I don't do it any more. But honestly, I have known very many pot-smokers in my life, and I would say of many of them, "if that's the kind of person you become when you smoke weed, then smoking weed should be mandatory." Conversely, I have known many puritanical folks whose "righteousness credentials" were impeccable - no smoking anything, no drinking, no cussing - but who didn't have an ounce of simple human compassion for anyone who wasn't just like them. See Mark 7:15 and following verses

I agree with you on everything but the first sentence. I came across much different than I had intended I guess. I've never done any kind of illegal drugs and I drink pretty regularly but almost always stop after one or two. BUT I don't condemn folks who do for the most part until it starts causing isues in other ways(killing people while driving drunk, losing your family because of a drug habit, etc)
I have had a lot of friends over the years that did pot pretty regularly, just not something I was interested in.

As far as Phelps, he's pretty stupid for doing it in a public place around people he didn't know. But is wasn't during training and apparently never effected his training so who really cares.

this has to be the most overblown crap.

the last president that didn't admit to smoking pot at some point was elected in the 80's.

it doesn't seem to have bothered Mr. Universe/Governator, 3 POTUSes at least one Speaker of the House and at least one Supreme Court Justice

i'm not saying they got baked every day, but give me a break on the high and mighty crap

IMHO, the only people who should avoid weed entirely are the sort of people who have a pronounced tendency to avoid expending personal effort and a pre-disposition toward terminal loser-hood. In those cases, it's prolly enough to tip them off the cliff.

That sure as heck ain't Mr. Phelps BTW.

Everybody else? If it were a legal product, like wine or whisky, a little now and then wouldn't hurt nuttin'. Especially since it might just lower some "Type-A" personality folks' blood pressure and make them nicer people to boot.;)

Plus, being in a recession the extra jobs created by labor intensive marijuana production would be useful, plus all the lab jobs at Monsanto and Syngenta creating better quality weed. Plus, I think it would be fun to trade pot contracts on the Board of Trade.

Criminalized weed is actually a stupid-er national policy than Prohibition was in the sense we should have learned our danged lesson in the Twenties and Thirties. WE KNOW BETTER! We are a nation of dumarses if we continue to keep weed in the shadows when there is so much to made off its legal sale. Not to mention the amount of national treasure we waste prosecuting and imprisoning its users and distributors. REE-TAR-DED. srsly.

What Brittain's a*s did he kick in the Olympics? Bunch of punk *ss bitc*es who wish they had some talent as opposed to being a 2nd rate nation. As far as whatever South Carolina student took this picture and posted it, what a loser! I agree, if pot smoking makes you swim like that, then it ought to be banned from the Olympics, but my scientific guess would be the opposite. :D

Santonio: [Takes hit] Speaking of Sonic, I always wondered what Knuckles was supposed to be. Like, Sonic is a hedgehog. Tails is a gay little fox. But what that red bitch be?

Phelps: Dude, he’s an enchida.

Santonio: An enchilada?

Phelps: Whoa. Enchilada. Man, I could definitely go for that.

Santonio: F*ck and yes.

Phelps: F*ck, man. We gotta get some Mexican food.

Santonio: I know how you eat, like, all the food in the world everyday. Like, 8,000 calorie diet and sh*t.

Phelps: Yeah, and when I’m high, it’s 8,000 calories and an enchilada.
