I know there are quite a few fans that seem to know just about everything Oklahoma so I thought I would ask some questions that they might have to take a few seconds to answer.

The 52-9 game in Norman?

Shawn Willis was the aggy FB.

Yes. The stuff occurred in the 4th quarter I believe. Loudest Owen Field has been (until Tech this year).

I'll guess Teddy Lehman.

:D

The Cowboys had more punts (5) than first downs (3) in the first half, and had more penalty yards (58) than offensive yards (47) late into the third quarter.

In the Sooners' final show of superiority, Oklahoma State failed to punch the ball into the end zone on three tries from the 1 early in the fourth quarter.

BOOMER !

Dick Lynch is correct, but the game was on 11/16/1957.

I believe that'd be #48, Gayron Allen.

2 parter:

A) In 1989, OU beat Iowa State 43-40, despite being outgained by almost 300 yards that day. What Sooner player had the distinction of running back an onside kick for a TD?

B) After the aforementioned onside return, when did the next kickoff return for a TD occur for OU?

Who was the punter for OU that took a safety to give FSU there only points in the 2000 NC game?

Ok, this one should be pretty easy:

A) Which Sooner set records for both punt return yards in a single game & punt returns for touchdown in a single game, in the same game?

B) What game did he set these records in (opponent & year)?

Perk vs. the UCLAn's in '03. Biggest reason this one stick in my mind is that I had to persuade the wife to stick around for that last punt (she gets a little antsy w/ blowouts). I've seen 2 latter game records like that due to my persistence: 1. Perk's show, & 2. Shawn Green's 4th home run in Milwaukee, which gave him 19 total bases for the game. Good thing I listened to that little bird both times....:D

On 10/19/1985 Miami came to Norman. This was the game that changed Troy Aikman's future, he broke his ankle in this game and never played the rest of the season.

Who tackled Aikman on the play that broke his ankle?
Who was the Miami QB?
Who took Aikman's place at QB?

What was the longest OU TD in terms of yards?

I believe the longest TD play from scrimmage was 90 yards by Mike Thomas. If memory serves, it was nothing fancy; just a kind of off tackle play. Thomas didn't have a long career at OU. I think he transferred then went on to have a few good years with Washington in the NFL.

Salt City Sooner

Frazier's TD run (96 yds.) is the longest. Biggest reason I remember this one is that I was sitting in the north endzone seats (front row) that day, & UNT had to punt w/ their backs to said endzone. They however, forgot this little detail called a punter & I almost got a pigskin sammich as a result. Oh, & BTW, back in the 50's, Buck McPhail had a 96 yarder as well, but he didn't score on it.

Hokay, I have a question for anyone who might remember...

About the same time as Jackie Shipp signed with OU out of Stillwater, there was (my memory tells me) a recruit from Ponca City that signed with OU. Cannot remember for sure what position he played, but going through the SoonerStats.com rosters, I haven't been able to get any names that rings a bell. Maybe this kid didn't pan out, maybe he transferred... I dunno.

Any of the fans from Ponca City would probably know all of the Ponca kids that ever played or signed with OU. It wasn't (again, my memory tells me) Raley, Ormand or Shinault. Any help appreciated.

HELP!

I'm from Ponca, but I can't remember anyone else in the early 80's being from Ponca. A kicker (can't remember his name) wore an "Uwe" shirt in high school, but kicked at OSU. I'll check with some others from Ponca.

Dan Thompson

Tom Catlin.

Dean Shinault was a DE from Ponca City & shows up on the '83 & '84 rosters....

Kevin Ormand was the center for both the Ponca basketball & football teams if I remember correctly. He graduated HS in '78. He may have only been on the practice squad for OU. I don't remember Raley. Shinault later transferred to Central State I think. Tom Catlin mentioned above played in the 50's. Roland "Waddy" Young played in the 30's. Tink Collins played QB in the 90's. John Nimmo is a current walkon. Those are all the Ponca Citians I can think of.

That sir, would be a 19 yard pass from Josh Heupel to Andre Woolfolk. Ahhh, memories. :)

Ok, here's one I don't know the answer to, but would be curious to know: Who caught the first pass Josh Heupel threw in a game as a Sooner?
