Come check out the opening of the Personality of Cult: Episode Deux this Friday night and then CLERKS is the midnight movie this weekend. Here's the details on the event.
The Circle Cinema Gallery will be hosting Personality of Cult: Episode Deux, an exhibit of works by Tulsa area artists inspired by their favorite cult classic films. The opening night reception will take place on Friday, January 30, 2009, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the lobby of Circle 2, 12 South Lewis in Tulsa. The exhibit will run through March 28.
The opening reception will feature a silent auction, presentation of awards for Best in Show and Viewer's Choice, and the evening will conclude with the Circle Cinema's Midnight Movie: Clerks, as chosen by votes from fans of Personality of Cult.
The first Personality of Cult exhibit opened in February 2008 and was the largest opening reception in the Circle Cinema Gallery's history. Twenty local artists interpreted their favorite cult films, such as Blade Runner, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and many others, into original works of art in a wide array of media and artistic styles that reflect the artists' unique perspective on the films they love.
With Personality of Cult: Episode Deux, the theme is focused on cult classic sequels and "franchise" films (films that have spawned at least one sequel or prequel). James Bond, Jaws, The Godfather, Lord of the Rings and other films will be interpreted in metal, digital illustration, paint, pen and ink, etc. There is also a special treat in store for Star Wars fans, as several artists in the exhibit will each offer a take on their favorite characters.
If you're looking to venture out of your ice cave tonight in the 918, this should be a good time.
