View Full Version : 2009 schedule is finalized. The last OOC is..........

Salt City Sooner

Idaho State.

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma and Miami, whose original football date in 2009 was lost to a facility conflict at Dolphin Stadium, have rescheduled the game to Oct. 3 and the Sooner program has completed its schedule for next season.

OU's non-conference slate will now include the Sept. 5 opener against BYU in Arlington, Texas, Sept. 12 vs. Idaho State in Norman, Sept. 19 vs. Tulsa in Norman and Oct. 3 at Miami.

"Working in concert with our coach, Bob Stoops, we are pleased with the quality of our non-conference schedule and feel fortunate to adhere to our core scheduling philosophy in preparing our team for a rigorous conference slate," said OU Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione.

"It took a considerable amount of cooperation between Oklahoma and Miami to maintain that game, but the two schools were able to work together to keep it on the schedule," he added.

I don't think anybody can hate OU for scheduling Idaho St. They're looking for a payday and we're looking for fairly easy game. We have BYU, Miami and Tulsa on our schedule and thats not bad. Miami, I believe has lost both coordinators this year and Tulsa will have lost its starting QB, but I think Bower is a much better athlete. They still have Charles Clay and he's very versatile. BYU won't be the challenge that many will think they are. Looks like a good OOC schedule to me.

except when it's the first :P

is the fair still going to be going on that weekend?

if they are moving around the date, i wonder if it's to get us used to not having it at the fair and ease us to Arlington

i wonder if we are going to be playing at Arrowhead again or in Lawrence

other than Austin, Lawrence is the only place i haven't been for a game now in the Big 12

I really wish we would have scheduled a game with someone on the west coast. That way we'd have some experience playing over there, just in case we manage to get in again.

Trust me, I've been tryin'!!! It hasn't taken with either of my boys yet.

My 7 year old will now tell you that Longhorns are crybabies though. :)

Plan to take them both to one of the early (and cheaper) games next year... maybe that will do it.

When my boy's birthdays (both during football season) fall during the week, I have no problem getting the weekend party scheduled for the nearest Sunday. A Saturday b-day is different though.

1-11?

If we are going to schedule a D1-AA team, couldn't we have at least found one that has a decent record? It's not like a D1-AA team with a 9-3 record is going to come to Norman and give us a scare.

I guess the Prarie View - Grambling shootout (literally) will occur earlier than OU/tx this year.

So our bye weeks are the 1st week and the 5th week. Not a very good distribution if you ask me.

And are we doomed to play OSU the last game of every season from now on? I liked it better when we played them in late October. Their colors made more sense and their season still had hope so they didn't act like it was their bowl game.

Wow...my wife has to be one of the very very few who went to Idaho State and OU. She started college in Pocatello as a Bengal, but finished up in Norman as a Sooner.

With that said...if I see a hint of celebration if ISU scores some meaningless points with minutes left in the 4th, I'll ask her to join her orange-clad brethren in the visitors section.

Their fans are probably going to smell like rotted potatoes....Pocatello stinks like those mushy multi-eyed potatoes you lose track of in your pantry.

First you slaughter a Cougar under a full moon. With it's blood you draw an OU symbol on the floor surrounded by 7 black candles. Inside the O in the OU logo you draw a pentagram in your own blood...

Somebody check me out on this. Looks to me like Texas is setting themselves for BCS computer disfavor again with OC games against 4 opponents that had a regular 2008 combined season record of 17-31. OU's 2009 OC opponents have a combined record of 28-20. Course, these things get scheduled years in advance, I think.

Considering he doesn't like football (yet), it would come accross as a present to me rather than to him. I'm going to try to take the family to one of the cheaper games in Norman earlier in the year instead... a little more in my budget too.
