Put aside all your hatred for movie remakes, after all, they’re not all bad.
Think about a movie (or movies) that you would like to see remade, assuming that the remake was good (think Ocean’s 11 over Planet of the Apes).
For me, there’s no question what it would be.

I like the new Ocean's series.
There are a few comedies from the 80s that I'd like to see how our new comedic actors would do in those stories.

although a great movie, i think a remake wouldn't quite capture the drugged out goodness of the original

Paul Rudd would be a good fit for this one.
I would be curious to see what someone could do with "A Clockwork Orange"

I'd like to see a remake of Tron. So many of the remakes I'd want to see have already been done, but done horribly. So, I am wary of this...

The trick is to find poorly made movies with decent storylines. If you remake Animal House you might as well remake Ghostbusters, Caddyshack or The Godfather.

no one can top an original Mr. T vehicle. and one that capitalizes on an already established sitcom theme...."taxicab driver life".....good stuff.

sacrilege I know, but some of the acting in that movie was downright horrible. (danny's girlfriend, srsly wtf?)
Dangerfield would be impossible to replace, but the rest could all be replaced without too much difficulty, some could even still play the parts, Bill Murray especially.

Yes, remake Ghostbusters too. But not The Godfather or Caddyshack.
Animal House is going to be remade sometime, and you'll love it if the right people are cast as the right characters.

Here is a list of remade comedies off the top of my head:
Caddyshack (Who's Your Caddy)
Mr. Deeds
The Pink Panther
Bad News Bears
Taxi
Freaky Friday
The Longest Yard
The Nutty Professor
None of them are good. Leave old comedy alone.

I think that was the movie. It was basically Rocky IV, but with kickboxing. Even had a scary Russian named Ivan Dragovich.

That was my inspiration for this thread. Red Dawn is, in fact, in pre-production talks. The studio also has been in meeting for Uncommon Valor. All signs say that Uncommon Valor will come first.

Sigh...I truly wish that instead of having this conversation we were discussing some of Stephen R. Donaldson's books being made into movies or perhaps a serious long-term and big budget commitment to King's Dark Tower books.
That said, I guess they aren't gonna do much of that or much original writing so I'd have to lean towards some of the older Fantasy type movies, but they'd have to be seriously re-written and have all the cheese removed. Stuff like Conan, Dragonslayer and hell, even Willow could be a lot better now that Lord of the Rings proved that ya don't have to play it down to the little kids or hire the worst actors ever to stay in budget for all those "fantastic" special effects those flicks featured. Do I really wanna see those particular movies re-made? Nope, but they could be a hundred times better now if someone took it seriously.

Maybe I'll unvote for that one...or can you half remake a movie? Like change everything around the original cast. Oh, dammit. Nevermind.
