Sheesh, two Harvard law grads - Chief Justice Roberts graduated number one in his class, and Obama graduated in the top ten percent of his class . . . . Roberts took full responsibility for the flub up.

Cut Chief Justice Roberts some slack Lex. I would have been nervous too standing that close to Obama at that moment. Lots of crazies in these United States.

From the article: "The president said he did not have his Bible with him, but that the oath was binding anyway."

Aha! No bible, he used the Koran. Read between the lines. The oath is still not valid so Obama is not President!

i was thinking about that this AM, would make for a great conspiracy theory.

and truth is, the US legal system is a mix of roman law and english common law...and in roman law if things were not precisely articulated in the right way it was not law.

FWIW, that was also the case in England well into the 19th century. If your pleading or "writ" was not precisely worded according to the required standard, the court house doors slammed in your face. There was a large community, actually a guild, that prepared writs for a fee. That system was brought to our shores and endured here too until around 1840.

google "writ" if you want to know more.

He could take the oath on a coloring book and the result would not be changed. There's nothing that says you have to take the oath on a bible or anything else for that matter.

And I am sure that you drank the embryonic fluid as a Frat initiation requirement. I won't argue that he is not but I am definitely not sure that he is nevertheless, he is the POTUS and he has the responsibilities accordingly.

That being said....................... lock and load and aim, and pull the trigger. Middle America is a hell of a lot larger than the areas that got the guy elected because , while he likes to associate himself with Lincoln he may get more than he wished.

I think a middle uprising to overthrow a democratically elected leader is "taking the country over" as opposed to taking the country back. Either way your silly vigilante dreams are petty and wildly detached from reality. You'll sit back and take it, don't kid yourself.

We know how you feel.

Shortly before 2pm, Houston police got a call of criminal mischief in progress at the George Bush monument on Bagby at Preston in downtown Houston. Witnesses say a man who appeared to be homeless was using paint to vandalize the monument.

The man was described as having long blond hair, possibly in a ponytail, and wearing a plaid shirt. He may still have some yellow paint on him.

Because putting your hand on a Bible is for show.

Either you're the kind of person who keeps your oaths, or you're not. A Bible isn't going to make any difference.

I remember being chastised by a few posters (those that no doubt see themselves as the most patriotic, etc.) in 02 and 03 for "not respecting the office of the president" because i wasn't gung hu on the Iraq invasion....

and to see many of these same posters and their screeds and insults and "witty comments" over the last couple days shows they have far more partisan grandstanding than principle in their hearts....because the hypocrisy and pure petulance of the last day or so on the board is pretty amazing.

democracy is the art of living with people you disagree with and it's clear many of our finest patriots can only live with people like them and lack the talent for recourse to civil disagreement.

Seriously, I know what you mean. I'm a fiscal conservative that wishes harm to Obama's ideas of higher taxation. But I'm enough of an American to not wish harm on Obama personally nor wish harm on the nation just so the GOP could benefit from it. If a policy of Obama's that I disagree with just happens to work out for us all, I'll be the first in line to give him credit.

And if you do fall in that camp, you're no better than the morons on the left that have spent the last 8 years suffering from Bush Derangement Syndrome.

and how exactly will these true patriots with guns and god maintain power once it's "seized"? will they control the banking system, the other branches of government, suspend the Bill of Rights in favor of "what's right"....free press?

maintain diplomatic relations and assume the "moral leadership" that makes the US so great?

it's clearly violence the G and G'ers prefer....and few governments succeed that way.

What is ridiculous about a people refusing to be enslaved. It happened before and it was called the civil war. Most freedom loving people will die to keep that freedom and not let it be taken away from a group that progressively has wanted more and more laws to remove the freedoms to, own a gun to protect themselves, Smoke, drive their vehicle of choice, use electricity, eat fattening foods, wear fur, use regular light bulbs, set the air cond or heater as they prefer, benefit from their hard work by getting to spend their own earnings rather than having more and more confiscated at the point of a gun/threat of imprisonment and given to unproductive members of society, citizens or not, raise their kids as they see fit. That is not overthrowing a democracy, its cleaning out the dead brush as far as I am concerned and it will be the only way this country returns to its roots. Lats face it, The United States of America has become a neo socialist country. The Blue Bloods, Intellectuals, Lawyers have whittled it away in the past 40 years. Once certain people found they could live off of the working people in this country it became a downhill slope.

They don't have to, they have the media, lawyers, judges, educational institutions, and non productive activists that have the time to protest while the workers are working

Sheesh. Fomenting treason in a time of war, no less.
Call it re-establishing the freedoms we were given by our creator which have been slipping away in an ever increasing manner.Including during the Bush/Clinton/Bush years. The first Bush lied and raised taxes. The right kicked him out. Clinton was Clinton, Bush tried to work with the left which never ever ever works and the right bid him a farewell less than he would have wished for. So here we are.
