How does Colt McCoy rate ahead of Sam? The Right Reverend Tim T. Messiah...OK he won the NC, so I can see that, but Colty-boy McCoy...no MF'n way he's better then Sam.

I'm not sure I wouldn't rate Chris Brown ahead of DeMarco.

Aw, you're just mad they came out with their list before you did. ;)

i'm surprised they didn't put tebow as top returning QB, RB, WR, and LB.

Out of extreme modesty he begged them not to. ;)

Not exactly, just tired of all these so called "experts" that don't seem to ever actually watch football and look at the real stats.
They have julio jones ranked 40th!?!?!

If these guys were real experts I'd be on their damnit! I'm coming back to the Sooners next season!

I agree with Tebow being the top returning "PLAYER" but not the top returning QB.

Also glad to see Lewis getting a lot of respect after only being a freshman last year.

I'm not sure I wouldn't rate Chris Brown ahead of DeMarco.

I wouldn't....

A couple of those big runs Chris Brown made in the NC DeMarco would have taken to house with one man to beat....

I think chris brown should be rated higher and both murray and brown should be a top 10 returning rb

I'd put murray at #6 or #7 and brown at #10

How can you rate a Freshman as returning when they are not eligible for the NFL Draft?

stoops the eternal pimp
1/20/2009, 10:05 AM
That list has nothing to do with the draft..If it did, the florida quarterback would be in the 60-70 range, maybe lower

How can you rate a Freshman as returning when they are not eligible for the NFL Draft?

The list is just rating players who played in '08 who will also play in '09. So it does not try to rate incoming freshman (true or red-shirt).

Pretty exciting so see that we are believed to have 7 of the top returning 100 players next year. And they didn't even mention Beal or English.

NormanPride

Key players not mentioned:

Beal
English
Alexander
Reynolds
Broyles

These guys are good, but are they top 100 good?

Beal is the one that stands out to me. I watch a fair amount of CFB and I don't see many lineman create as much havoc as Beal does. I'm no expert, but I'm glad he is on our team.

One guy that I really like is LSU safety Chad Jones. He is built in the same mold as Nic Harris and USC safety Taylor Mays. Although Mays is probably the better athlete of the 2 I think that Jones will be a talked about in many mock drafts at this time next year seeing as how he would become draft eligible.

Franks had a pretty damn good year as well.

NormanPride

But they played on a "bad" defense.

Trent has to show some senior leadership this year

Not exactly, just tired of all these so called "experts" that don't seem to ever actually watch football and look at the real stats.

The article starts with

Now that the early entry deadline is gone, who are the best returning players in college football? Based on how good they should be going into the season, and not on pro potential, here are the big stars coming into the year both overall and at their respective positions.

so it may be that he has Sam behind the other two because of the o-line exodus here. Maybe. Of course, Colt has to deal with the loss of a couple of receivers too, so who knows.

It could be that he thinks the running threats of Colt and Tim give them the edge. I don't think that's so crazy. I'd say it played a big part in their games against us.
