I guess I don't understand the reason for spring practice.

It has only been a couple of month since post-season and the incoming players, high schoolers, are still in school.

So, who is spring practice for? What is the program looking for? Help me understand this.

A few different things,

See who is going to step in, in our case for the O-line and Wr's
Some Fresh have already enrolled, it gets them reps and conditioning
Gets Landry and Drew Allen snaps cus I doubt SB will play much

Yeah, I am sure the offensive coaches would like to get the new fangled o-line as many reps as possible before BYU.

You can't over-estimate the benefit for next's season's team that we were practicing and playing in January, either.

There will be changes in the playbook, personnel....and you can never get enough repetitions. Not even Sam Bradford can get too many repetitions. Can you imagine the "rust" after seven months?

Mainly they do it because the NCAA allows it.

They do not go as far as wearing pads?

Is this the time that new plays are tried?

When does it start and how long does it last?

It gets them ready for the spring game so the University can sell 40,000 tickets and, assuming a nice spring day, 50,000 bottles of $5 water plus get a check from ESPN for TV.

It also keeps the players in good football form. It keeps them hungry.
