If Gresham goes, I think it's great. He's ready for the NFL. He really showed his great hands down the stretch this year.

Good, because my son has some questions for Sam at the next Meet The Sooners day.

Happy to hear though. I know that must be a tough decision to make.

Quarterback Sam Bradford is expected to announce that he will return to Oklahoma next season, a source told ESPN.

Bradford was expected to announce his decision at a 5:30 p.m. ET press conference Wednesday.

Offensive tackle Trent Williams, who said Wednesday that he would return to the Sooners next season, said he believes Bradford will return.

"My gut feeling is that Sam is coming back," said Williams, who spoke with Bradford. "The entire state may be very happy."

Kent Bradford, Sam's father, said that his son's decision will be based on what is in his best "long-term" interests.

Williams, 6-foot-5, 308 pounds, graded out as Oklahoma's best offensive lineman throughout this season, according to coaches.

"I just want to win," Williams said. "I have been left with a sour taste in my mouth. Not a lot of people win a championship and I want to win a championship. I also promised my mom I would graduate. And I think I can improve my draft stock."

Defensive lineman Gerald McCoy has already announced he will return. Tight end Jermaine Greshman has been leaning toward entering the NFL draft.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has seen many players throughout his career return when they could have turned pro.

Joe Schad is a college football reporter for ESPN.

Man, I don't think I've ever been happier to be wrong.

That's pretty freakin' awesome. That article with his dad sure threw me off the scent -- it sounded like dad was coming as close to confirming Sam's departure as it's possible to come without actually saying it.

Anyhow, we're so glad to have you for another year, Sam. You rock.

This is the right decision for Sam over the course of his lifetime. He needs his degree; he should have it or be close next year. It is very hard to come back and work on it after working for 10 or so years anywhere. He needs to improve his play and get bigger and stronger to compete in the NFL. He will be able to more effectively perform at the next level with another year of college ball. And by being more experienced and prepared, he will hopefully be more succesful in the NFL than if he went now. The extra year of experience should help him to earn possibly more in an NFL career. I believe this is the right decision for Sam.

It's less about the degree and more about the experience. He'll never need his degree for any job he ever applies for.

Excellent news. And this will be great for Landry Jones too really. I mean he's bound to get some serious mop up duty time in the 4th quarters of many games..and heck maybe even the 3rd qtrs sometimes.

Thanks Phil for getting legit info out as quick as you could.
OKC-SLC (my brother) dropped me a text when he spotted this thread...I don't know how many times I got onto the local news websites (t.v. and Tulsa World) today trying to see if anything had been announced. I logged on here once and no true word yet until I found out about this thread. Figured it was legit then. It's a great day for Soonerfans. Now let's kick some serious *** next year and get in the big game again. (guess I should calm down a bit, we still have a summer to go through, crap.) :D

I rather enjoyed the evening news AKA The Longhorn Sports Report tonight. They had two segments, the lead story was a big shiny OU logo and Sam's picture and the story about Sam, Jermaine, Trent and Gerald staying. They they had a report about half as long on the Whorn women's basketball game tonight.

Non-stop discussion on Austin's sport radio last night and this morning on Sam's return and what it means for the Whorn program.
What it means is obvious. Smack Brown will be trying his best to make the most out having a 10 win season(possibly) next year while still not having more than his ONE lone Conference Championship(which face it everyone knows belongs to VY not Smack) in his head coaching career.

If you lived in Austin you would understand how obsessed they our with our program and our success. Smack's whining can only go so far in keeping the Whorn fans diverted from the reality that their arch-rival OWNS the Big XII South and thus the conference championship.

I am proud of Sam and proud for him and his decision to stay another year in Crimson and Cream. I look forward to going to another Big XII CCG and a trip to Pasadena while my neighbors here in Austin have to put up the the 'Whiner's' spin and another trip to the Holiday bowl or wherever.

If I were to start a thread on Mark Sanchez going to the draft, I would title it "Former USC quarterbacks all tell Mark Sanchez to get the eff outta Compton ASAP," because that is exactly how his news conference announcement sounded. (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3835329)

On the other hand, it sounded like Sooner alums gave Sam different advice. Makes you wonder...
