Heard nothing about their O-line and how they match-up to our D-line. Kind of hard for tebow and their backs to run the ball if they can't block us. Anybody know anything or have some stats to the 10th decimal place? Thanks in advance...

exactly a point NOBODY even the tards at ESPN hasn't even brought up how average their o-line is...

Our line must be very average to allow 16 sacks and pave the way for the 11th best rushing attack in the country. Not to mention we have the third best ypc average in the country. Our running backs must just be that good I guess. Oh no wait you don't think they're that amazing either.

They use wide splits, kinda like Tech.

In games I have watched via replay this past week (UGA, LSU, Bama, Ole Miss) all four teams were able to get penetration through the line and pressure Tebow and disrupt some running plays. However the problems occurs when those those teams got too aggressive. Florida would then stop playing misdirection and option and just run smash mouth up the middle and bust a huge run because of the small (Q type) RBs.

We will want to get pressure, but we also want to play about agressive/conservative as possible to protect against the big runs.

Well, that is good for us then.
You can attribute a lot of that to Tebow. In fact he is the #1 rusher for Florida. And he is very elusive. Tebow has been hard to sack his entire career, so it is not all on the OLine. Florida has allowed 56 tackles behind the LOS.

Texas Tech, Missouri, Okie State all have better OLines when it comes to sacks allowed.

FTR GG84:

Oklahoma has 4 DLinemen that lead the team in sacks and 4 in the top 6.
1. Jeremy Beal DE 8.5 total sacks.
2. Gerald McCoy DT 6.5 total sacks
3. Auston English DE 4.5 total sacks
3. Adrian Taylor NG 4.5 total sacks
6. Frank Alexander DE 3.5 total sacks

Others that rotate in...
Cory Bennett DT 2.5 sacks
Alan Davis 2.5 sacks
Pryce Macon 1 sack

That is a total of 33.5 sacks between 8 DLinemen. OU has sacked the opposition 42 times this year (which is 10 more than Florida's Godlike Defense has accumulated on the season).

Well at least you used some stats to back up your point, unlike many of your cohorts on this board.

Anyhow, game time is a little over 12 hours away. LET'S DO THIS THING!

Sack numbers need to be balanced against number of pass attempts. Once a team has to pass to try and play catch-up and becomes one dimensional, opposition sack totals should go up exponentially. OU does have a good dl but the OL for UF has been seriously underestimated all season. That is okay, only 12 hours left and we will find out.

That is one way to look at it, if you cannot open your mind up to differing opinions.

The fact remains, teams with lesser Dlines have been able to push your offensive line around all season long. Sacking the Messiah is a different thing though.

Maybe you guys should have got up on opponents in the first quarter like us. Then you could have more sacks too :D

Tell you what:

You can discredit our sack numbers due to the large amount of pass attempts,

if we can, using your logic, discredit the ypg your defense gives up, due to the lack of passing plays/overall plays ran against them.

sheesh.....

Thankfully, for better or worse, after today the circlejerk that is statistical CFB arguements will finally end.

I can't wait.

Nobody trying to discredit anything. Said OU has a good dl.

Just saying that no number means anything in a vacuum, they are all relative to something else.

Being second in a 2 man race is not a great feat, finishing second in a 100 man race is. All relative.

9 hours 40 minutes. Is this day over yet?

Obviously, the aliens are here to determine if the gators truly have achieved faster-than-light travel...

Not trying to discredit Florida's ypc and sack #'s, but when you have a mobile QB and use laterals/reverses, those #'s are going to be fairly impressive.

UF's O-Line runs an average of 4.42 in the 40. Yeah, they're pretty much the slowest guys on the team but Urban's working on them.
