If so, what sites do you recommend? One of my staff buys them green and roasts them himself. That's a little too involved for me. I am looking for high quality, affordable whole beans. Probably in 1-5 lb quantities.

I HEAR good things about coffeefool.com. I believe Rush Limbaugh (the real one, not our clone) hyped it.

I typically have my butler take care of those sort of things.

There's an Oklahoma City company called Prima Café (http://www.primacafe.com). I love their coffee. It's the same stuff the Red Cup here in the city uses, if you're familiar with that place. My favorite is probably the Cafe Amerique, but I also really like Peru and Timor. I'm working through the rest. They will also custom blend and roast, in quantity, I expect.

I did that Gevalia dealio for a while. meh.

I love coffee, but I'm not enough of a coffee gourmand to be able to distinguish the nuances between stuff bought vacuum-sealed at the grocery store and more froo-froo brands purchased from upscale and/or innerweb purveyors.

I think the keys are a surgically clean coffee-pot/maker, fresh water (and yes, tapwater is fine if it isn't too hard), fresh beans purchased within the last two weeks and stored in a cool, dark place tnat YOU grind right before brewing. Also, use plenty of coffee in your maker. It's a myth that using more ground coffee than you "need" will make the coffee too strong.

Think about it. The water (a solvent) can only take a finite amount of coffee solids into solution, but the resulting brew can be weaker than it should be if there's not enough coffee in the basket over and through which the water runs as it brews. Scrimping on the amount of coffee you put in your brew-basket can rob you of the full extent of the flavor otherwise possible. I use a heaping tablespoon per cup.

I take back my comment that the Prima Café (http://www.primacafe.com/) Amerique blend is the best. I like it second to the Guatemala. Also, FWIW, they sell World Neighbors certified coffees, and a portion of the proceeds on those sales goes to the World Neighbors organization.

Do they sell that jungle cat poop coffee I've read about and which Jack Nicholson's character in The Bucket List enjoyed? srsly.

You can get whole bean or pretty much any grind you want. When you order it, they ship the beans within 24 hours of roasting. I've never had a problem with quality.

Ever since I heard how much they get for that stuff I've been trying to get my cat to eat nothing but coffee beans but not having any luck so far . . .
