BCS conference Champs get auto bid, top BCS teams after that.

Neutral games start at Regional finals. Alternating between bowl sites listed.

1 & 2 rounds at higher BCS rated team.

Pros:

Includes 32/119 teams (no NIT type bowls)
Incorporates neutral (bowl like) games so the top 8 bowls or so can still host games

Cons:

Five weeks of games/three weeks of travel for the 2 Champ teams
The regular season would have to shift left one week
Would probably have to add 1 FBS team and make 10 x 12 team conferences.

I wouldn’t mind hosting CAL then UGA for two more home games though.

Take out the bye week and shift the season 1 week to the left. That’ll help keep the champ game in the first week of January.

Those of us that are bowl system fans don’t want to see it turned into some Hamorphidite of a play-off/bowl post season where 4 teams play for it all and others go NIT. Either keep the bowls or go total play-off.

Interesting proposal, but I think it deviates too far from the spirit of what we have. Scheduling is a nightmare, having to fill the stadium on 31 unscheduled games, it either cuts into Dec break or drags on into late January along with pros. Too many non-starters.

Just take the BCS top 8. Plain and simple. The 4 BCS bowls are the first round. All you add is one more week, it keeps the bowls, fairly easy to schedule, still keeps the imporance of the regular season, and most likely incorporates any serious contender for the MNC, but doesn't include every scrub team in the world. While this is not perfect, it is pretty easy to implement, and should be able to placate the opponents arguments against it.

There will never be a tournament without the BCS conference champs automatically invited. I think you have to go 16 teams or else teams like Utah, Bammer, Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, etc would be left out in favor of 9-4 Va Tech and Big East Champ Cinncy.

If your going to a play off system, than there should be no BCS conference tie in's. Just take the top BCS ranked teams and play. One of the problem with the playoff system is getting fans to travel. If you had 16 teams, who could afford to travel to 4 games?
