Netflix, Adobe, Google Rated Best Places To Work. AT&T, eBay, RadioShack Among the Worst.


Where are the best and worst places to work? Glassdoor, the site that surveys employees about workplace conditions in great detail, has issued lists of the best and worst 50 companies as rated by employees out of the 11,000 in its database (see below).

There aren’t any startups on these lists because Glassdoor does better with larger companies with more employees. Topping the list of best companies is General Mills, but tech companies make a decent showing as well, with Netflix, Adobe, Google, SAP, and NetApp making the top 10. Apple is No. 19. Amazon and Microsoft didn’t make the list. Neither did Yahoo, but it escaped the worst 50 list as well. The same cannot be said for eBay, IAC, and AT&T

Gallup did our employee survey at some VA hospitals a few years back. Mostly trying to measure aspects of "engagement" more than satisfaction. In terms of buying into the organizational mission, our employees were off the charts. Not surprising really, it's an easy mission to buy into and be proud of.

I worked for the University of Oklahoma for 10 years and thought that was a pretty good place. Among the fringe benefits was being able to buy season tickets to Sooner football games . . .

I work in middle management for one of the companies on the bottom 50. I get treated well, but much of that has to do with my salary and benefits having been determined before a merger with said company. I cannot IMAGINE coming in ground floor with this company when you consider what is expected versus what is paid. Huge disconnect between upper management and the realities of the front line job.
