Gator troll pole (now with banning!)

OK, folks. Here's a new, fun little feature for the board. After careful, studied consideration (OK, not really) we have decided to let board members decide the fate of some of our more recent, Gator-flavored guests. Lord knows we've had enough reported posts and the like since the Big 12 game regarding the influx of trash-talking Gators. Some of the new Gator posters have actually been a nice addition, have some good insight, and have added to the general conversation on the board. Witness how many of them have green reputation. Obviously, Sooner fans are a hospitable lot.

However, from time to time there have been a few insufferable, haughty, insulting ones that have forgotten they are guests on a Sooner board, trashed OU fans, the team, and even -- *gasp* -- the King. I'll give credit to a few who came here looking to mix it up and have since settled down and realized it's a fun place to hang out and talk football.

But the ones that have not, while they may not have specifically broken rules, really aren't adding much to the discourse, no?

So this is your chance to vote a few of them off the island, as it were. This is the first of maybe a few other installments between now and the BCS championship game. Please take the time to look over the posting history of each, and make an informed voting decision. I am posting links to their history, to make it easy for you lazy hillbillies.

Here is the criteria I am using for inclusion in this particular poll:

Must have registered post-Big 12 Championship and bowl announcement
Must have 10 posts or more
Must have red reputation, suggesting the populace in general is dissatisfied with their posting style
Must have identified with the Gators in some way, or at the very least be some sort of SEC shill
Must have had board activity within the past 24 hours
Must receive 25% or more of the overall vote (6 nominees)Subsequent polls may give this criteria set the ol' BCS tweak, if we fail to catch anybody in our net here.

How did we arrive at this set of criteria? Heck, I just pitched the idea to a few folks, who said "go for it," and threw together this criteria without a whole lot of thought. If you have a better system for future polls, feel free to make suggestions. Also, if you have nominees for future installments, make those too. Just make sure they are Gator jerkwads and not some regular board poster that you don't like. If I missed someone who fit, oh well. I tried, but I'm a little lazy. Make sure they are a candidate for the next one. If the poll is a hit, we'll try to do a few more before the game.

Also, this does not preclude Gator trolls from being otherwise dealt with on bannable offenses during the time the poll is active. And to any whinyass Gator trolls that want to run to the HMFIC to complain, this is being done with his seal of approval. Suck it.

Last but not least: this poll will end tomorrow night (New Year's Eve), and we will permaban the lucky sweepstakes winner for a happy start to 2009.

OK, how about this: since this is a new exercise, we'll add another wrinkle to it. This poll will decide who is up for voting off the island. After it is over, we'll take whoever got 25% or more and we'll have individual thumbs up/down polls for that candidate. We'll even require a supermajority of of 66% or more on the new poll before they get the boot. That will mean that at least 2/3 of the people who bother to vote really, really don't like the guy and think he shouldn't be here. It will be an interesting sociology experiment, if nothing else.

Plus, it might make a few of them think twice before posting ****ty. Heck, P3 could probably turn green if he just applied himself.

Though now that I'll be in the SEC, I suppose I'll have to start saying things like "Vandy would win the Big Ten" and "The SEC East champion should get an automatic bye in the first round of the NFL playoffs."

I just want to say one thing, to the posters here and everybody in Gator Nation, I’m sorry, extremely sorry. You know we were hoping to be the worst possible posters, that was my goal, it’s something that Florida fans have never done here. But I promise you one thing, a lot of good will come out of this thread. You will never see any poster in the entire country post as hard as I will post the rest of this season, and you will never see someone push the rest of his fellow Gator posters the way I will push everybody the rest of this season, you will never see a fan base post as hard as we will post the rest of the season.
