NEW ORLEANS -- Alabama Crimson Tide All-America left tackle Andre Smith has been suspended from the Allstate Sugar Bowl for violating team rules.

Coach Nick Saban announced the suspension Monday, and it could signal the end to the Outland Trophy winner's college career. The junior is expected to be one of the top players selected in the NFL draft if he opts to skip his final season at Alabama.

Smith has been noncommittal about his future plans. He has allowed only one sack this season.

No. 4 Alabama plays No. 6 Utah on Friday night.

These agents are slime. There has to be some serious penalties for these guys who continue to interfere with players who have not declared and still have eligibilty.

I wonder if Bama has any legal recourse against the agent involved. A couple of those reptiles getting crushed in court would stop that crap.

The sad thing is ESPN was defending the kid and saying it doesn't matter. Like NFL teams really don't consider the dumbazzery of these guys when drafting them. Coach Huey Lewis shoulda shielded his players better and the asshat agent shoulda followed the rules, but the kid has to be at least a little responsible for his own actions. He may have lost a few million even if he only drops a few spots or if he woulda played a great game on a big stage to bump him up a bit.

To be fair, May was saying it was a dumb move that will cost him money come draft time. It was Holtz that was saying he was a fine citizen and it didn't matter.

You are right...Holtz is a bigger doosh than May, but still...Why was there even a point-counterpoint?

Probably 2-4, Im just basing this off of my opinion. Pace absolutely dominated his entire career. Did pace even give up a sack his entire career?

yes he did but not his last 2 years...Dude was a beast...

BTW, I said he was the best since Pace...your right...not as good as Pace

Orlando Pace finished 4th in the heisman his last year...that's pretty impressive for an O lineman

I knew it was something like that, I would argue that Jammal Brown was just as good as Andre Smith, although that may be the homer in me since some are saying that Smith is the best o-lineman in the SEC in 10 yrs, I dont see it personally but Im sure im wrong
