I have to be in Sin City for a trade show, so I will not be able to watch the game from the comfort of my own flat screen. The idea of watching it in my room sounds sad and pathetic. Anyone know of a group of Sooners in Vegas that get together to watch games? Or a particularly good spot in Vegas to watch a game like this? (and I'm leaning toward the idea that a casino sportsbook isn't the best place, but would love to hear counter-opinions).

Go to the sports book in your casino and watch it. That would rock!

Was in Vegas the weekend of the 2003 Big 12 Champ game against K-State.

Watched the debacle on the huge screens in the Mandalay Bay sports book.

Good venue, bad outcome.

Lots of obnoxious USuCk fans there that day - close proximity to LA.

I agree with earlier poster. Get to any of the sports books early to claim a seat.

My takes on the various casino venues:
Mandalay Bay - big, open, good.
Caesars - biggest one around, but reserves the majority of seats in the sports book for their whales. Good atmosphere for a while, but standing far away from the screens would not be good for the whole game.
Bellagio - smaller venue, fewer seats for the non-whales.
Hilton - off the beaten path, but I've heard good things about their sports book.
Monte Carlo - small, but less pretentious. More seats for the average Joe. Cocktail waitress service in the sports book - no charge for the drinks (unlike other sports books), but be sure to tip the waitresses well - give a big tip the first round, and they'll find you all night!

Remember, what happens in Vegas.....

ESPN Zone in New York New York is a good place to watch sports. The sports book is a few steps outside the door. The food is along the lines of Coaches or similar burger and beer type places. Plenty of TVs. One of the bigger sports book areas would probably be preferable, but if your conference makes it impossible for you to be EARLY at the sports books, this is a reasonable alternative.

I will be in Vegas for the big show. We're staying at the Las Vegas Hilton - good sports book. We are actually planning on going to one of the 2 movie theaters in town showing it in 3-D - one is on the strip.

I like the sportsbooks at Caesars and Venetian. It is fun to watch a big game in a sportsbook. The cheering is not from fans of a team, but more from 'investors' of a team.

I like to watch a game at a sports book. Like Caesars best. Drinks, fans, get to do a little betting. A good time if you have to be there alone.
