It will open up the home page, but any other address I try to go to, it takes me to 1 of 3 different advertising sites. It will not let me go directly to soonerfans.com or anything else. AVG can't update because of it as well. TIA.

i'd look at the task manager and see if there is anything funny

what are the 3 ad sites? that might a clue as to what you have. it would be easier to clean once you know that

The term that refers to your pc's condition is that your browser has been hijacked. It may be that your spyware is diverting the browser. The sites and their addresses are irrelevant.

To fix:

First: Run a good antivirus scan such as Avast (free).

Next: Follow this with a good spyware detection program such as Spybot or Adaware (these are also free)

To get any of these go to C-NET and search for them.

There are other products out there, perhaps newer ones. If this doesn't fix things then you have something more serious wrong such as a worm or other malware, which means the problem will only get worse.

it's a hi jacker, you need to find what site's it's pointing to

I can't remember what you need to run to clean it through, but you have to do it through safe mode

First of all, quit surfing porn :D

And then you need to switch to Firefox and only use Internet Explorer when you absolutely have to, because IE is absolutely a piece of sh*t.

I had a problem like you have and I ended up having to nuke the hard drive. Good luck.

I had a problem like you have and I ended up having to nuke the hard drive. Good luck.heh. I told him yesterday that it was toast, so he brought another one over for me to load up forms, doc and such. It has an 80g hd that say's it's full:D

Concur on the IE.
