Colonoscopy.

I know, I know. Surprising. But just not a fun way to spend the morning.

And yes, I know the difference between a colonic and a colonoscopy. Hope everything's OK down there, Froze.

Well, it's not as bad as I was scared that it was but a little worse than I had hoped.

No cancer (that they could see-biopsy will be back in a week or so) and I won't need re-sectioning, which is a major bonus.

On the other hand, looks like I've got some lifetime fun coming up.

The diverticulitis diagnosis from earlier this year appears to have been incorrect.

I've got to do one of those soon too. :( It's not the procedure that worries me, it's the day before fasting and 'cleansing out'.

Me likey the cougarificness of Dr. Cuddy.

One of the nurses was no **** named Yoko.

I must have made at least 10 Beatles jokes before and during the procedure. I'm sure she was amused.

Thanks. Like I said-the two things I was most scared of ended up not being the case, so I'm pretty relieved.

Heh.

Ended up.

Relieved.

Lemme tell you, that's no picnic.

Particularly because Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer both made the decision to put Fleet's under the counter a few days ago and my doctor didn't think to give me a prescription, so I had to spend a few hours finding a pharmacy that had it OTC.

But mainly because of the massive pooping and hunger.

I went in for a physical the other day, blood work etc, doc said he would go a head and set my appointment up. I am like damn doc, it felt like you just stuck your head up there a few minutes ago, didnt you get a good look while you were there.

Glad everything went well Mike

I got a prostate exam a while back. Still haven't figured out how my doc did that with both of his hands on my shoulders.

They used that date rape drug on me 2 years ago!! Was completely awake and promptly forgot the whole procedure. Come back in 5 years and a big bill, that doctor didn't even buy me dinner.

The diverticulitis diagnosis from earlier this year appears to have been incorrect.

I've had 2 episodes of diverticulitis over the past 2 years, hurts like a bastage. How can they misdiagnose that? Blockage or something? PM me if you're not comfortable with the question but I've been there FS.

Well, I'm a big fat guy and the pain started out localized in the lower left quadrant. That plus an elevated white count indicated diverticulitis.

Looks like it might be Crohn's instead, which matches up better with some other symptoms and matches up with some experiences earlier in life.

I did a few colonoscopies yesterday, Froze.

The real mystery is why people schedule their colonoscopies for the day after Thanksgiving (seriously).

Good luck with everything, Froze. I hope it ain't Crohn's, but it isn't the end of the world if it is.

Frozen Sooner
12/25/2008, 11:54 PM
Oddly enough, SLC, Crohn's isn't something that would upset me a great deal. When I was a kid I was diagnosed with UC, and it's very possible that the UC diagnosis was a misdiagnosis of Crohn's. If that's the case, I have a VERY mild case that goes into long remissions, and I've already been living with it forever.

Like I said-just happy it's likely not cancer.

Indeed, Crohn's and UC are sometimes difficult (and even occasionally impossible) to distinguish in some cases. And I only mean I hope it isn't Crohn's because it's a chronic illness, that's all--in your case it sounds very mild. I'm definitely happy that this seems to represent your worst-case scenario.
