I know this isn't the patriotic thing to say, but for whatever reasons Austin did not have the same impact this year as last, surely not if you measure his effectiveness by the number of sacks. Whether that was attributable to nagging injury or whatever, he wasn't the impact player.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not an Austin basher, but I think Frank Alexander is the better player anyway. Since mid season when he started getting more playing time, I thought his and Jeremy Beal's play gave our pass rush a big boost. Or course McCoy's presence may have taken attention off of those two guys, but I couldn't be happier with the play of Frank Alexander. If McCoy stays, I cant wait to see our DL next year.

I agree with Sooner4life. Getting English in our last game gave the team a lift, but Alexander may give us the best player on the field. I am also a big English fan but how productive were his most recent playing minutes? I noticed against Missouri, we played a lot of 3-man front, maybe we should do that against Florida to give the ends a running start?

We need English for both depth and experience. It's true that Alexander is more of a physical specimen and is playing well. But I've noticed that on influence plays like shovel passes, English is very good at reading those and staying home. UF runs a lot of stuff like that.
