I have never given respect to the thought of a high school "national champion". It is so subjective. You can't tell me that the so-called "national champion" is better than other undefeated state champs around the country. If you are given the the title of national champs, good...enjoy. But I don't think it holds any weight. I don't think there was a team in the nation that could beat the 1997 Jenks "Legion of Doom", but there isn't a national playoff so we would never know.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard.

The 98 Jenks team was stout as well.

We need a 32,768 team HS playoff

St. Thomas recruits players. They are a private school and the FHSAA is a joke when it comes to enforcing rules against poaching athletes from other schools. They really need to have a different category for these large private schools that are giving away tuition to recruit athletes from anywhere near their school. that being said, St. Thomas had a hell of a team this year. Could probably play with some DII colleges given the chance.

I notice the team ranked #58 nationally (the name slips my mind) has an asterisk. Was there a three-way district tie? ;)

Well, one thing's for sure. If they're from the state of Florida, they probably run a 4.0 40.
