Heisman winners are 23-26 all-time in bowl games.

Heisman runners-up (22-25 all-time in bowls) have lost eight of their last 11 bowls. Third-place finishers (22-24 all-time) have lost 11 of their last 13 bowls, including four straight.

The jinx on second and third are almost as bad!

seems to me the 2nd and 3rd jinx are actually WORSE than the winner jinx.

at least in recent history.

Well, the last three winners, have all lost their bowl games. Bush lost to Texas in 05, Smith to Florida in 06, and Tebow to Michigan in 07. The last winner to win his bowl game was Leinart in 04. You know what they say, third times a charm.

Well we all know (sadly) what happened the last time a heisman trophy winner played the previous years winner, so hopefully we have that going for us

I still believe Leinart is the only winner to win the BCS title game, but if you look at those games from an objective standpoint, none of those games were really upsets no matter what the oddsmakers may have thought at the time; i had USC and Texas rated even

Sammy ain't going to let it affect him, he is too modest!

Most of the time, I think the Heisman does have some effect, whether it be overconfidence or a tenacious defense. I even thought of this when White won it. Although he was injured. But with Sam, im just not worried about him. Maybe Florida plays "a little" harder, but I don't think Sam even thinks about it. He just seems to keep the task at hand. If anything is to come of this it will be Florida's defense and not OUr offense.

If it's 23-26, then it seems to me like it is no indication at all on what the outcome is going to be. In recent years it may look like it, and it may be, i dont know. But a number around .500 might just mean that the Heisman winner might just not always be on the best team, which of course shouldn't be a criteria to begin with.
