View Full Version : We Need A Song!!

In 2000, the Sooners caught the fancy of everyone in Oklahoma in running the regular season undefeated on their way to a national championship. At the start of the season, no one would have predicted a national title for the Sooners. After we beat K State for the championship of the Big 12, a song was played on radio stations all around Oklahoma. I think it was, "who let the Sooners out, who, who who."
In 2003 and 2004, the Sooners went back to the national title game but the excitement all around our state was not the same as in 2000.
Somebody needs to come up with a song about the Sooners of 2008.

There were songs for both 2003 and 2004. I still had the 2004 one. KJ103 in OKC made all 3. They also make OU/Texas songs every year. The 04 song was pretty funny. Sadly though, everything they said that we were going to do to USC in the song, they ended up doing it to us.

Well, someone figured out there that the Big 12 has a theme song....

DallasNews.com - Kevin Sherrington: Big 12 South rises again as Oklahoma takes title (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/colleges/big12/stories/120708dnsposherrington.3ebc21c.html)

[snippage]

Did you know that the Big 12 had a theme song?

If you were in Arrowhead Stadium, you're forgiven if you thought it was Boomer Sooner.

Oklahomarocksong.org suggested the following as a state rock song:

Move Along - All American Rejects
Oklahoma - The Call
Do You Realize - The Flaming Lips
After Midnight - JJ Cale
Endless Oklahoma Sky - John Moreland & the Black Gold Band
Home Sweet Oklahoma - Leon Russell
Heartbreak Hotel - Elvis Presley (co-written by Hoyt Axton's mama)
Never Been to Spain - Three Dog Night
Walk Don't Run - The Ventures
Let's Have a Party - Wanda Jackson

I vote for After Midnight.

Ok, well the task at hand should be alternative words "NAH! nananana GO! GATORS!" much like the alternative words to the Seminole War Chant were "OHHH!!! KLA-Hoooooma! OHHHH!!! KLA-Hooooma!"

If you really haven't heard it, here you go, the cute version:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9cnTnsh5m4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_9cnTnsh5m4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object

Bless him, he's trying to say "Teee-bow!"

My submission for alternate words are:

Teeee-bow's over-rated (So's the Gators!)
Teeee-bow's over-rated (So's the Gators!)
Teeee-bow's over-rated (So's the Gators!)
Boomer! Sooner!
Ok-la-ho-ma!

 This will probably have as much chance of catching on as "Hi! Rickety Whoop tee do! Boomer Sooner Okla-U!" but we can try, right?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I love it. I think all the songs that they do are hilarious, I have a CD with nothing but those on them. My favorite is the parody of Kocamo. The reason is cuz of the line...

So tune on ABC, first time you'll ever see, the SOONERS actually spank Weinke on Nation wide TV, How old can quarterbacks be, Weinke just joined AARP, the refs should flag us for cruelty to the elderly, down at the orange bowl.

I think we need a song like we need a hole in the head. Songs cause people to lose focus.

Every time the Chiefs win four games in a row, some lame Foreigner cover band writes a song or some hood dwelling rappers put together a beat.

Failure ensues.

Hah!

From the same article:
...Sam Bradford had no such problem locating open teammates. When he completed a long first-half pass to Ryan Broyles, the PA announcer mistakenly referred to the Sooner receiver as "Frank Broyles," the Arkansas octogenarian.
Chirped one press box smart aleck, "They couldn't cover Frank, either."

P.O.D "BOOM!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EHFhc3BUms

Lyrics:

I never knew that a kid like me
Could take his mic around the world and flash the big S.D.
And rock the masses, from Madrid to Calabassas
Tijuana, Mexico, bootleg demos in Tokyo
They know me though, 'cause I be puttin' in work
Commit my life to rebirth, well respected, 'cause that's my word
I'm sure you heard (heard), about a new sound going around
She might have left my hood, but she was born in my town

You didn't know, thought we was new on the scene
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I know you know, I see you smiling at me
Well, it's alright! It's alright!

Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, How you like me now?

I said
We rep. the South, so what you talking about
I'm not running off my mouth, I know this without a doubt
'Cause if you know these streets, then these streets know you
When it's time to handle business, then you know what to do (what to do)
Me and my crew, we stay true, old skool or new
Many were called, but the chosen are few (were a few)
We rise to the top, what you want? Just in case you forgot
Rush the stage, grab my mic, show me what you got

You didn't know, thought we was new on the scene
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I know you know, I see you smiling at me
Well, it's alright! It's alright!

Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, How you like me now?

I said
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, How you like me now?

Is that all you got?
I'll take your best shot.
(6x)
I'll take your best shot.(2x)

is that all you got
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I'll take your best shot.

is that all you got
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I'll take your best shot.

is that all you got
I'll take your best shot.
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I'll take your best shot.
I'll take your best shot.

is that all you got
I'll take your best shot.
Well, it's alright! It's alright!
I'll take your best shot.
I'll take your best shot.

Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South
Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, (haha)How you like me now?

Boom! Here comes the Boom!
Ready or not, here comes the boys from the South

Ready or not, haha How you like me now?
