Someone shut Spielman up!! He's talking affirmative action for coaches.

Face it, all of the guys that were fired or quit, will have jobs in January.

Speilman also said that this year's suc team had the best college D he's ever seen!!! Guess he missed the osu game in Coravalis.

Heck if Turner Gill can win at Buffalo I am suprised that he hasn't had more offers or interest from bigger schools looking for a coach. Sure he only has head coaching experience at Buffalo but get him some recruits and I would like to see what he can do.

Yea, I agree, the whole coaches thing is annoying me.

Touchdown Ball State! 17-14..

Turner Gill might be a Cornholer but he is a class act in my book....and, apparently...a damn fine football coach. Congrats to his Bulls.

Why are we cheering on Turner Gill?

Just another example of why Conference championship games are worthless;if you are a Texass fan then you would think Buffalo is a better team than Ball State just because they caught them on a bad night; another example of why a team's body of work in college football should over-ride one bad night

We are cheering on Turner Gill because he is a class act and a credit to the coaching profession no matter where he went to college or coached (Nebraska).

I have often wondered what we'd have been like had OU been able to hang onto him.

I must have missed it. What has Turner Gill done that was so classy?

Other than take a Buffalo program that was barely considered D-1A from the depths of suckitude to MAC Champion in 3 years? He gave 100% of the credit for the win tonight to his players. He was genuinely moved by what the victory meant for the Buffalo program. So far he appears to run a clean program, and getting kids to come to Buffalo was probably a pretty hard sell.

I'm not sure he's going to be in any hurry to follow up on potential offers by the "big time" programs. He apparently told those schools that inquired about him last year that he wasn't interested (including his alma-mater).

And that has what to do with "classy." (And didn't the Ball State coach move his team to 12-0, the first time in school history?)

Which every coach in college football does after a victory.

He appears to run a clean program? And I suppose the Ball State coach doesn't?

From what I can tell, there isn't much that separates Turner Gill from about half of the coaches in the NCAA, and certainly not Brad Hoke. He took over a lousy team and made them fairly good. (Yay.) He hasn't been nailed by the NCAA yet. (Coaching at Buffalo, he is probably not going to hear the NCAA knocking any time soon.) And he makes nice speeches after the game is over.

BFD.

My wife's from upstate NY, and they absolutely love Turner Gill up there. Many Syracuse folks wish that they had him. Sadly for Buffalo, this success will probably lead him to a bigger program, like SU. But I can tell you that before Turner Gill, Buffalo was a perennial Bottom 10 program. Good on ya' Turner!!!

So we're cheering on a team from New York coached by a former Husker. And no one seems to quite know why.

If Turner Gill lost every freakin' game at Buffalo, I wouldn't care. I don't wish any ill will on him, but he has done nothing in his career for me to want to pull for him.

Scott D

That's fine and dandy, and you've done nothing to give anyone consideration as to why they shouldn't like to see him do well. So everyone's happy in the end.
